I would rather not install them there as my C: is used for OS and critical applications, I would MUCH rather put these large files on my D: . I am asking because I'm interested in playing in a PWorld that requires a large hak pack.

There are at least two ways to put them on D:.  One is to actually configure Windows to locate My Documents onto your D: drive, and then the game will look for them there.  The other is to change your game shortcut to add an alternate folder location for all of your NWN2 custom data.  I use this option, and I have the NWN2 documents on the same drive as the game itself, which is not C:.

"D:\games\Neverwinter Nights 2\NWLauncher.exe" -home "D:\games\Neverwinter Nights 2\User"

That's an example.  Note that I use (and recommend) Skywing's Client Extension, which is why it has NWLauncher.exe there.  "User" is what I chose to call the folder where the documents (such as the haks you mention) go, which is a subfolder inside the program folder.

After you change your shortcut, move the files into the new location.

So I changed the target for the Client Extension to read : "D:\GOG Games\Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete\NWLauncher.exe" -home "D:\GOG Games\NWN2 Custom" - If I create custom folders for hak, modules, override inside of D:\GOG Games\NWN2 Custom, will they be read?

If you launch the game with it, it will create the folders for you in the new location.
