With the upcoming election in America, this came into mind: which political party do you believe each of the companions would belong to? Who do you think they would vote for in the upcoming election? Which would your Inquisitor belong to?

Here are some of my ideas. These are all part of the American political system, but if you have ideas on other systems, please share!

Cassandra: conservative republican, but not intolerant or orthodox considering she has a rather open mind; perhaps would be voting for Mark Rubio? I would say that she is closer towards the middle ground between Republican and Democrat, and this follows with what she accomplishes as divine

Sera: definitely a liberal, definitely democrat over republican; believes in taking from the rich to give to the poor, but does not wish to completely abolish the system given her conversations with Solas, so I am going with socialist over anarchist; definitely would be voting for Bernie Sanders

Vivienne: Republican, she does not like reform and enjoys keeping things the way they are, given her actions as divine; values capitalism given her taste for luxury and how she enjoys climbing the latter; Trump appears as the most capitalist candidate, so I imagine she would be voting for him

Blackwall: conservative and republican

Iron Bull: He is slightly more difficult, I would say that he personally is liberal over conservative, but he has fairly strict adherence to the qun, which is closer to a conservative communist society

Solas: Outwardly criticizes the qun; believes highly in personal freedom, individual thought, and equality; highly dislikes authority and those whom abuse power; brought down his own government system without replacing it - if not an altruistic anarchist, then a libertarian

Leliana: Democrat; believes in substantial and swift reform; does not value traditionalism; likes being shady - would vote for Hillary Clinton

Dorian: believes highly in reform and breaking the status quo - liberal

Cullen: values strong military force and presence; is more conservative than liberal

Varric: I would say liberal and democratic over conservative or republican, but he probably just hates politics

I'm in full agreement, I guess.

Although I think Solas is ultimately a nihilist. Not a libertarian. At least for now.

Then again, maybe Solas is a Trump supporter. Make Thedas Great Again.

Doesn't nihilism promote an anti-religious and anti-morality philosophy?

He might as well be that, as far as this world is concerned. I don't think he's ultimately that way.

If it has, I was unaware. Did it end poorly, or something? I honestly just thought it was an interesting topic that the BSN would be able to hold a intelligent and rational conversation on..

Someone made a Cassandra = Trump thread and begged people to vote for Trump. The thread got taken out by the mafia and all evidence of its existence was... dealt with.

I shouldn't even be saying this. Forget my face.

Someone, somehow, came to the conclusion that Cassandra as Divine was akin to Trump.

Personally as I'm not American, your country's politics are hilarious to me.

Yeah, but the principles ("life is meaningless") are the same. It's just perspective.

Someone came to the conclusion that Cassandra was analogous to Trump.  That thread got locked pretty quickly.

I didn't even know this. This was not a thread for me to promote my political views, though. I was only giving my interpretation on each of the characters own philosophies. And, unfortunately, I agree with you, though I would say that pretty much all modern politics are hilarious.
