No thank you. As a rule, I believe games should stick to presenting PCs whose nature and experiences can be related to the player. Dragon Age already suffers from this with mages- players are completely immune to all the temptations and canonical dangers of magic, grossly underselling the lore's initial set-up of demons and blood magic- and it doesn't need to make things worse by referencing things so alien that the moods of others can shape their fundamental being.

Having a Spirit PC would be like having a True Qunari PC- the concept is so alien to the player base that, to be properly in-line with the lore, a PC would be remarkably restricted and probably more confusing than explanative to the player.

Thank you for your insight. Spirits make great additions to the lore but should remain companions and side characters not centre pieces. Thank you for your thoughts. Hopefully mages get more love in future games. I would love to explore the Fade more as I sleep. It would be an interesting mechanic for mages, exploring Thedas awake and then the Fade in between. But rogues and warriors will need their own special mechanic to even things out.

Does anyone remember the Jade Empire had the party member Wild Flower, a little girl who was the vessel for a demon? Maybe a character could work like that?

They did this 3 times already. Wynne, Justice, and Anders.
