As a distraction, I sometimes think about how the Evanuris got their domains in Dalish legends. I have some ideas and would like to see what you think of. A bit of background on what I believe happened. Solas mentions that their rise to divinity started with a war. i believe this to be the war against the Forgotten Ones. Each of the Evanuris got their respective domain, either from their role in the war or something that happened after. Their legends have probably changed even before the fall of Arlathan but the elves that would form the Dales remembered almost nothing and so had to fill in the blanks. And now, without further ado:

Elgar'nan

He was the leader of the armies and so was put at the head of the pantheon. Since he is at the top, he had to have been the first god and so is present during the creation of the world.  He was a brutal but effective commander who did not have much restraint.

Mythal

She was almost equal to Elgar'nan in stature. She provided the restraint that he lacked and was the voice of reason. Her status as a motherly protector came from caring about the common people, probably both during the war and after when she cared for her subjects.

Dirthamen

His title, the Keeper of Secrets, makes me think he was a scholar of the arcane and supplied the Evanuris with new spells to use in the war. As a scholar, he might also have envisioned new technology to be used.

Falon'Din

He was an explorer of the Fade, since Dalish legends state that he knew its paths. The ancient elves entered the Fade during uthenera and likely believed that is where their souls go (or stay) upon death. Since Falon'Din knew it so well, it is logical to assume he would be their guide. As for his role in the war, since he knew so much about the Fade, he might have sought out their enemies and killed them in their dreams, which is another association with death. the most obvious one I can think of though, is the "incident" Solas mentions at the Temple of Mythal, when Falon'Din tried to amass more worshipers. Those wars brought a lot of death and he was seen as the cause. It is obvious that Dirthamen and Falon'Din worked very closely together, so Falon'Din may have supplied Dirthamen the deep knowledge of magic that he clearly possessed to help make new spells.

Andruil

She is known as a huntress, so it is easy to imagine that she was a prominent leader of the scouts, hunting the enemy. Or it was because she loved hunting.

Sylaise

Her domain is very much to do with home. So, in the war, she might have been in charge of the defense of Evanuris territory. She is also remembered for teaching elves about herbs and healing magic, so she probably commanded the doctors that treated the wounded.

June

He is remembered as a craftsman, so he probably built the technology that Dirthamen thought of.

Ghilan'nain

She seems to be a later addition to the pantheon and not from the war. She created creatures, including the halla, so the Evanuris likely saw her as a potential threat if she wasn't monitored, so they allowed her to join their ranks, on the condition she kill her creations. Dalish legends indicate that she may have been the subject of Andruil before her ascension. But she might be associated with Andruil because she loved to hunt her creatures.

Fen'Harel

I don't think he was ever counted among the Evanuris, which is why the Forgotten Ones might have didn't consider him an enemy. This is why he was able to move among both groups. I don't think he was involved in the war but came later. He saw the injustice the Evanuris committed on their subjects and resolve to free all he could. The Evanuris, except for Mythal, who befriended him, seem to have tolerated him for quite some time, doing nothing other than spreading propaganda against him among their subjects and it is mostly this propaganda that the Dalish remember. And then at some point the other Evanuris decided that Mythal is too reasonable for their liking and killed her.

So these are my thoughts on the elven gods. It's a bit long-winded but there are quite a few of them.

Well the literal translation of Elgar'nan is Spirit of Vengeance, so I'm pretty sure that is how he got his domain.   As head of the pantheon he was the ultimate enforcer.   Plus of course there is the legend of him throwing down the sun as vengeance for it burning up the things he had created.   There seem a lot of ancient elven ruins that are underground, so the legend could be remembering the war with the Titans.   The magic used in creating the elven realms caused the titans to stir, causing earthquakes that destroyed them, so Elgar'nan encouraged his fellow Creators to go to war to avenge this destruction.   (I am using the Dalish term Creators to distinguish from the Forgotten Ones since Solas never makes it clear if the term Evanuris covered only the Creators or both)

Mythal is the protector but also the dispenser of justice on a day to day basis.   She is credited with being the founder of the elven cities, which would protect their inhabitants from outside dangers but would need governance, so that would explain her domain.

Andruil does seem to simply enjoy hunting.   When they were at war she probably hunted down their enemies.   During peace time she just hunted what she chose.   The codex in the Temple of Mythal says that when she grew tired of hunting regular creatures and mortals (humans?) she tried going into the Void to hunt the Forgotten Ones, so it definitely seems a compulsion on her part and she is remembered for that.

June seems to have constructed marvels, which would account for him being remembered as the god of crafts but originally not mundane things like bows and aravals but wonders of magic.

Sylaise is spoken of as having fires that cannot be quenched, so presumably a fire goddess, which would account for her being remembered as the hearthkeeper.

Dirthamen is associated with secrets and mysteries to be uncovered, which is why he is often twinned with Falon'Din since that is where many of the mysteries were likely to be discovered.

Falon'Din seems to have a strong connection with death and may well be a vague memory of him as a death dealer as recounted by Solas.    It may also be that he and his brother were originally a partnership that acted as spymasters for the Creators, discovering the secrets of their enemies, identifying and then eliminating them.    Then Falon'Din grew tired of playing second fiddle to Elgar'nan and others and tried to increase his importance.    Initially Mythal was able to deflect this by suggesting the dual between his champion and that of Elgar'nan  but eventually more drastic action had to be taken by Mythal to keep him in check.

Ghilan'nain likely was the servant of Andruil, creating hybrid creatures for her to hunt.    As the legend suggests, these got out of hand and in return for destroying them, apart from the Halla, they raised her in status.   This was probably a wise move otherwise she might simply have turned her creations against them.

Fen'Harel was never part of the pantheon and according to Solas, never thought of himself as a god.   However, the Creators recognised him as a threat and  he was subsequently remembered as a god by the Dalish because it stands to reason that only someone with the power of a god could have shut their gods away.     This is probably true because the orb that he used may not originally have been his own but given to him by another, quite possibly Mythal.
