Hallo!

Ok, basically a few days ago I downloaded one of user-domain-error's simply amazing 'Play as other Characters mod' (found here http://forum.bioware...mi-and-jack/) Ireally can't stress how awesome they are, they've completely revitalized the game for me - I downloaded Jack's one first and got it all working, it all went really good. Then I thought 'naaah, I wanna play as Tali actually'. So I installed the Tali version, and it's all working great - but it has lead me to a couple of questions.

(I know I could have posted on the original 'Play as other Characters post, but it would have been a huge thread necro. I have tried messaging user-domain-error too, but I think he/she has been away for around a year or so, so I'm not sure I'd be getting a reply anytime soon - so hopefully someone here can help!)

edit: I'm hoping this is the right forum to be asking all this, I just assumed it would be best to post it in the same forum as the original Play as Other Characters thread. Apologies if not!

First question - Playing as 'Shep Tali', the model looks identical to the 'real Tali' apart from one difference, her visor is very opaque. The visor of 'real Tali' looks almost semi-translucent and glossy, whilst my 'Shep Tali' visor is really just a solid purple. Can anyone think of a reason why this would be? I'm assuming user-domain had a good reason, but I can't think. Can anyone think of a solution to fix it?

I'm assuming the reason is tied in to the fact that user-domain had to massively shrink Shepard's head in order for the Tali version of the mod to work - although again I don't understand why. I know the appearance of her visor is a pretty minor thing, but I'm a stickler for things looking as best as they possibly can. Which brings me to my...

Second question - Let's say I decided to download a High Res version of Tali. Could I replace user-domain's textures for the high def ones? In summary, how would I go about playing as a high resolution Tali? Would it essentially mean me re-creating user-domains tali version from scratch using high res? or could I simply 'swap' some files around and have it all working? (I think I've learnt just about enough to this for a humanoid npc, assuming I could get hold of high res files, but user-domain-error said Tali was difficult because she's not human at all - I would have no clue.)

I have tried to experiment with this, however I'm having problems right at the start simply getting at the High Res files. All the High Res downloads I've downloaded so far run through texmod. I would really like to avoid using texmod. I would prefer to edit the coalesced myself and then leave everything be. I have run into some issues though..  I download a 'High Def Tali' mod, the file is a .tpf. I unpack the .tpf, and inside are .dds.'s. Can I unpack .dds's to find the actual textures/meshes inside (like a BIOG_etc etc etc.)? to then insert into the coalesced? The thing is, I'm not sure if what I'm asking here is even possible, or if I'm going about it in a stupid/obtuse way.

Apologies if I sound like I'm asking really 'noob' questions. I've been fairly alright at modding in the past, although I'm completely new to modding ME3 (and actually modding textures in general), but I'm learning! I've read every guide I can possibly find on swapping/modding textures in me3, so I do feel like I'm getting a tiny grasp of things, but yeah, any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks! ^^

Having the same problems here.

I personally don't care much that her head is not appearing inside the helmet, cuz as you said, the modder probably had to shrink the head as best as she could.but the romance scenes before the last mission are by far one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, and I would be really glad if it could be,somehow,fixed...

this mod is the only mod that I've seen around here which makes Tali playable,so it's so far the best option available, though I would love to see some improvement...
