Generally it's most helpful to keep ranged party members at a distance while cqb members advance.

Activated abilities are far more damaging than autoattacking, so abilities which regenerate mana/stamina are crucial.

Work towards Full Draw on your archer asap. It's an ideal start to any combat encounter as you can pretty much one-shot a pesky mage/archer with it immediately.
