I use scissors with my right hand... but write with my left.

I play guitar right handed, but that's because I was forced to when I learned and didn't know better.

I still don't want to say I'm ambidextrous though.

I tried to learn the guitar right handed, my teacher said it didn't matter but my right hand is so weak, that I just plain sucked at it and gave up.

This is the future. Left handedness has been cured by the miracles of genetic screening or modification. All humans are perfectly right handed. Go Humanity! Go Cerberus!

Have you ever noticed how using your non-dominant hand makes things interesting?

Yes I have

Using the left hand...

Is considered an insult to some cultures. So in the name of intersectional diversity, No.

I'm right handed but when using a controller I always have to play with south paw controls.  Also play pool left handed normally.  Then again, I learned from my brother who is left handed.

Pen smudging, that pain, that pain. Also bumping elbows in class with righties, school was rough man.

There are a lot of things I do naturally with my left hand, but I am basically right-handed.

And tiny print PSA: a huge hint as to how seriously a thread is intended to be taken is if they spell it "Andramada."

Thread title is still a lil bit funny, even if I've posted here already.

I don't think mirroring would work as you would need to flip a lot of animations, camera angles, and aiming.  Simply flipping the animations would look odd if the camera is kept at the over the right should perspective and could hinder aiming since the camera normally comes in close to the right shoulder, if the character is left handed and fires using the left hand then the camera would need to be completely re-worked to be moved to the left shoulder which would also mean in engine cutscenes would need to be re-worked (if the camera uses the same motions it would end up in a different spot).  This could end up costing too much time and resources to enable a feature very few people would actually use.

Another example would be The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Wii.  Link is normally Left handed but since the Wii uses motion controls they felt it would be awkward for people to play right handed.  they answered this by mirroring the entire game compared to the Gamecube version, so the entire game was flipped to accommodate right handed people.  this could be done in teory however it could make giving directions or playing with other people difficult if one is playing non flipped and the other is playing flipped (one person says go right to fight the enemies but that is actually left for the flipped map - can get confusing very fast)

I play guitar right handed, but that's because I was forced to when I learned and didn't know better. Yet if I play a violin, it's left handed. lol

I still don't want to say I'm ambidextrous though.

Interesting - I trained as a pianist and would call myself ambitdextrous these days.  I think I'm naturally right-handed but the training overwrites that.  I can write (well) with both hands.

IRL, when shooting its best to aim with the dominant eye, whether you are left handed or right handed isn't near as important. Its best to shoot right handed if you are right eye dominant, and left handed if you are left eye dominant.

Now now it's not nice to be so... truthful.

Mine is particularly dreadful though, looks like someone took a hammer to my hand. Messy messy penmanship.

I actually am left-handed myself, though I learned since day one to use the PC as right-handed. Basically because I knew it would make things much more easier for me in life. And dammit if I'm not regretting that decision. Honestly I don't quite care to see characters using weapons left-handed and whatnot.

Always find funny how in Gears of War or some other games, the dude can switch weapons like if he was ambidextrous.

I guess we, being left-handed people, tend to notice this kind of stuff more often than "normal" people. Again, personally I don't give that much of a F.

Scissors suck! Coffee pots with numbers on one side suck! Thank god for computer drawings, I haven't had to wash the pencil smudge off my left hand in a long time.  :) Sometimes little things are kind of cool, seeing Cass writing with her left hand in DAI, made me smile.

What's the problem with scissors? Just use them the other way around.

Just give an option like Resident Evil 6 did. RE6 is very flexible when it comes to things like this.

... the option to make our character left handed or ambidextrous .

Pen smudging, that pain, that pain. Also bumping elbows in class with righties, school was rough man.

Can identify with that - had a school teacher in the first three years of school that believed it can be unlearned. I still "prefer" that southpaw even though I'm selectively ambidextruous. The corpus callosum somehow decides and I end up aways surprised. this sport left and the other sport type right , scissors right, scratching the nose left.

Whatever. Also Michalangelo , Da Vinci and Jack the Ripper was lefties. At least they left their mark on society some way or the other.
Yay for having "at least" LHA (ie enemies that use / shoot with their left hands and not let it just hang around). That will make righties really suffer with lha enemies - without knowing why.

I'm a righty but I've always swung a baseball bat left handed, golf club too.  Some things are easy to switch between hands, other things not.

Me too and my hand writing is terrible as well lol. I don't believe it has anything to do with which handed you are but simply something to do with pure finesse or enough practice in hand writing ;)
