After meeting with the assassin  with Josephine should we follow Val Royeaux protocol and allow the assassin safe passage or should he be killed?

So far in all my games my Inquisitor gives him a 30 second stare down  and allows him safe passage according to protocol even though I'm sure Camine and Chasha's  green eyes is full of fiery hate because a friend is threaten.. Tidus because his love is threaten.

Sera,Cass and Blackwell is in the background in case of any possible trap develops during the parley.

What say you?  Kill or no kill?

Spare. What would be the point of killing him? He's not your enemy.

Kill if I want to go the Leliana route.

Spare if I want to go the Josephine route.

If you're gonna go ham, might as well go all the way.

I spared him. He offered his information and kiling him doesn't resolve the issue at hand.

If you've always done the same thing in your other worlds, do the option you've never done.  You can always switch it up in the keep afterwards, but at least you saw it through once and learnt the consequences.   :)

I usually let him go. I killed him in some of my playthroughs. Don't really see the difference either way.

He was courteous to you, and he didn't kill the lord who contacted you. Most importantly, Josephine doesn't want death in this mission. She wants to use her words to fix the problem. It all goes back to the bard duel at the top of the steps. She wants to solve things in her own way. She thanks the assassin for the warning. He did her a favor.

You don't even kill the guy you speak with anyway, right? You kill his minions while he disappears. I tried killing him once just for science, but it seemed like a pointless act, because it doesn't really change anything. If it kept them from trying to fulfill their contract on Josephine then it would be worth it.

I usually kill him. He is an assassin. A polite threat is still a threat. You don't threaten with death the Inquisitor's friend and counsellor. My Lavellan will not just stay still and say "Oh, okay. Thank you for the warning. Have a nice day." x)

Most of the time I kill him. Metagaming reason - I go Leliana route, so either way I'm going to cause problems inside House of Repose. One dead assassin is one less assassin for Leliana's people to deal with. Non-metagaming reason - my Inquisitors are not Orlesians. Most of them don't care what's acceptable in Orlais. When someone tries to assassinate their friend and then lure them into a trap (no matter if it's only to talk), they're as good as dead.

You kill him as well.

Haha, exactly. If my role play leads to killing the assassin, 99% sure he/she will spill more blood to finish the job.

Josephine's Trespasser epilogue sliders are different, depending on whether or not you kill the assassins. I quite like the one where they're killed...

Yeah, I think my Levellan killed them and had Iron Bull in the party. He says something like, next time we wait inside the room where the assassins are. I think Blackwall might have something as well, like asking Josephine if she's alright. Haven't tried it out will all characters.

Every companion has something to say. I think who speaks up depends on some kind of priority system. I like Sera's line the best.

I've always killed him. Sometimes I skip the mission entirely, but maybe the next time I do I'll not kill him just to do something different.

I've played a rogue assassin and she/he is as honorable as all my other IQs and they all are as honorable as they can be while killing anything that tries to kill him/her.  :)
