There was a discussion (or would that be disagreement?
) about this recently. Read down from this post. The build I mention there is what I'd pug Nightmare with, but the essentials are Athlok Burst and Asaara's Leap for damage and mobility. Try the builds there or switch it up and try other abilities, but be prepared for the sense of 'meh' some of them bring.

If you don't have tones of stats and playing pug NM then usually go for a support barrier bot is a good idea. Barrier, glyphs, ring and leap.
If you want to play as a DPS (and have PI amulet) then pick up anthlok or itwa adim, either glyphs ot ring, barrage and leap.

As a saarebas beginner, I dropped leap pretty quick. It was too hard to keep track of and ended up with some unexpected results. With other abilities, maybe the element wasn't what I expected ( i.e., fire instead of electric), but that wasn't that big of a deal. I found leap to be a pain since I would suddenly move backwards or drop on top of the target if I got the stance wrong.
Besides, too many other good things to have in your build that I found more useful than just the little bit of mobility.

Open with Adam Sandler (Itwa-Adim)
Flow with Electric Balls (Gaatlok Blast)
Finish with Tarter Sauce (Saar Tar Shield)
All upgraded skills, use Heart of Pride (or Wisdom is fine too), wearing Storm pact belt. Rings and amulet for your playstyle/needs.
Just my .02 for a build that is a nice blend of damage plus support, for pugging. (Plus Adam Sandler and Balls, can be easily mixed -open/flow wise - if in a pinch with enemies that are shrugging off your "zip-zap-electricity!" )
**Note**
This build courtesy of @xrayspex. Once I was shown this, I tend to always go back to it. /shrug

I like Athlok Burst not only because it does crazy amount of damage, but also others could combo off you. Yeah I could self combo but what's the fun in it?
The other day I was just following Spec's saarebus around with my Lego and shield bash all his frozen things. It is very satisfying. ![]()

LOL leap is easily the BEST ability in the game. Great aoe spam spell for a lv1 and best reposition ability without doubt. Use it will and it can maximise your killing efficiency (although I admit this spell doesn't make you much of a team player
)
