Out of luck, you need to reload a savegame. The mansion in the quest is a different module than the mansion that serves as a companion home.
Advice for the future: adhere to the holy trinity in RPGs - tank warrior, support-healer mage and dps-lockpicking-trapdefusing rogue in every party.

Thanks. I broke the rule because varric could not open an chests so I dropped him from the party. After this level, I got Isabel , who opened every chest that had her try, which is why I returned to the mansion with her. Now I keep her as the rogue in my part, and only use varric when I am forced to. I just started Deep Roads, and I have 2 rogues because I'm not going anywhere without Isabel. Lesson learned!

You don't have to choose your rogues based on that alone. Lockpick ability is determined by the level of cunning a rogue has. Each Act of DA2 has stronger locks, with Act 3 having the strongest.
Act 1 chests require 20 cunning,
Act 2 chests require 30 cunning,
Act 3 chests require 40 cunning.
ANY of your rogues can open all of the chests if you raise their cunning.
If you want to redistribute attribute points, you can buy a potion in the Black Emporium that will allow you to do this. Use it wisely in Act 1, since they do cost gold and you need to have gold to go on the Deep Roads mission. But generally, if you do everything and don't buy anything else, you have enough gold to spare to buy any necessary respec potions for yourself and friends.

Unless I'm playing a rogue, I always make a point of increasing Varric's cunning first and foremost to make sure he can open everything. Nothing was more annoying than the first time playing Sebastien's mission in Act 2, and finding 2 chests that he couldn't open because his pre-set cunning skill was too low.
Next time I brought Varric.
Alternatively, there is a lock bash mod in case you forget to bring a rogue or they don't have enough skill points yet. The mechanic is a little wonky so sometimes I forget to use it.
