I thought it might be fun to share what we sound like, for anyone interested. We can use Vocaroo.com.
This is me reciting my favorite piece by Edgar Allen Poe, To One In Paradise.

I should find a mic or something...
Maybe read y'all some Anglo-Saxon
Wow, you really have a beautiful voice, Artifice.
Thank you Gomez and Dave.
Originally I also posted something of me singing "Nightingale's Eyes," but I chickened out and edited it away. ![]()
You sound much different than I pictured. Lovely voice though still
Also yay for Edgar Allen Poe! I was one of those kids that had a thick poetry book of his that read in the hall way during lunch so I may get a touch happy when I see or hear other people reading it.
I probably won't be doing this myself I would be fearful to find out just how much living over in this area has affected my way of speaking, bad enough I go to ya'll instead of you all half of the time.
Also I sound like I'm 6-12
Somebody may have heard it before you edited it, though. Not saying anyone did ...necessarily. Just saying it could have happened.
Very nice to hear your voice, Lady A.Since reinstalling Windows from scratch this week may bring some success in it recognizing my mic this time ...if I can get it working I'll read something too. I like this idea.
But no singing
...I might re-record the song and post it again...I'm not really that afraid of making a fool out of myself. It's just pride, after all. Part of the reason I got rid of that part was because I didn't want people to feel like I'm pressuring them to sing.
Because nobody is being asked to sing. ![]()
I can't use Vocaroo so I'm trying to wrangle my voice memo app into submission.
It's just as well. I read the entry on the Greater Mountain Nuggalope, and no one needs to hear that.
I want to!
Wow, this sounds lovely. Very soothing! ![]()
I might have a go, but I'm not sure what I'd read. There isn't a lot of classy literature round my house.

However, this is a very good alternative! ![]()
Hmm if I were to do one of these I'd probably stick to one of the riddles in my dragon book, being a slow reader outloud a short riddle should be quite long enough. Maybe a quick passage of one of the dragons if I'm feeling confident enough for it. But big if for if I do it at all.
Ah what the hell. I'll go. But disclaimer: my voice isn't nearly as pleasant as Arti's and will likely sound disappointingly juvenile compared to what you might expect.
I don't have a piece of high literature in mind, so since I'm currently binge-watching Daredevil Season 2, I'll go ahead and read Wilson Fisk's monologue from the end of Season 1. It doesn't technically spoil anything, but my voice is kinda teenage-y and not that menacing so if you want to hear it yourself the first time in the manner it was intended, probably skip this.

Oh boo I actually did try to record something but it cut off everything really early. One try at horrible singing and two tries of reading a short riddle.
Had a hell of a time figuring out what I wanted to read or say, and that actually took longer than getting my microphone to work ... anyway, please forgive the interference. Although the mic works it is not the greatest.

EDIT: Okay. Thanks, Duelist, for foiling my plans pointing out the broken link
should be okay now (I hope).
It's so fun hearing people's voices.
If anyone is still looking for good material to read aloud, poetry foundation has a "poem of the day" every day, and that might be a good place to find something.
I'll probably read something else tonight. I'm trying to decide what.
I'll post something once my roommate gets back and I can use her mic, I've got a selection of Anglo-Saxon poetry to read from. I'll be curious to hear what you guys think of it even if you probably won't understand a lot of what I say.
