Shepard never made it to the Citadel at the end of Mass Effect 3. That laser vaporised from Harbinger him/her.

The explanation of the endings? Never happened. Not indoctrination theory. Not legend theory. Nope. Flat out did not happen.

"Retconned" so to speak.

You can't win every war. You can't beat every struggle. Sometimes defeat is inevitable.

The Reapers won. They harvested almost everything and a handful of people from the entire galaxy fled.

Of all the civilians across multiple space faring races in the Milky Way, only a few thousand survived the Reaper onslaught.

So less than 0.0000000000000000000001% of the Space Faring population actually survived.

These survivors go to Andromeda through some MacGuffin hopping that the Reapers don't follow.

By this time the Reapers have gone back to dark space, so their return is likely to be during the next cycle. Though there are still the odd Reaper ships patrolling the Milky Way Galaxy looking to wipe out any other survivors.

Maybe they'll return, however they will only be mentioned in Andromeda.

So this is a new start. A second chance for Mass Effect, to explore new horizons and leave the dreaded Reaper threat behind. Hopefully for good.

Ummmm....what?

That happened with one of my Sheps who chose the refusal ending, but I don't think you're getting the point.  The endings are not canon because when the ark leaves, they haven't happened yet.  So your ending will still happen but not in game and the ppl on the ark won't learn of them.  Right?

Can't bring myself to care at this point. Whatever they do, the turd is still the same turd, hopefully the new game will be better.

I don't think retconning the ending is necessary if Andromeda is going to take place in, well, Andromeda. In fact, that's probably the main reason MEA will be set in another galaxy in the first place.

I might not have been fully satisfied with the ending, but at this point, I'd like Bioware to stick with it.

Maybe Bioware wanted to make a new franchise, but EA told them to call it Mass Effect because people recognise the name.

Bioware had a get out of jail free card with the "indoctrination theory"  they spit in an extended hand.

I think moving to some far away galaxy and ignoring all of that stuff is better than trying to salvage it.  It was bad....really bad.  I can't knock them for the Andromeda idea.

As far as I'm concerned, Shepard trilogy doesn't exist. It is just a figment of our

Isn't the IT just an elaborate "Critical mission failure" ending? It is also seems too similar to how a certain other EA Sci-Fi space-horror game ended...

Isn't this the same thing as canonizing Refuse?

LOL why ppl keep doing this??.

The ends are there.

the 3 ends are canon, Bioware haven said what is canon (proabbly they will never going to). That why is more easy to move to another galaxi and star over again.

Really the ending like it or no is what is it.

easy when they dont get what they want, ppl make anything popular. LOL is more if u ever read the Dark energy plot that was scrap for ME 3 "fans" said that it was better that what we got on ME 3 when they actual writer of the plot said that 1 it was never finish with alot of plots holes and 2 fans just fills doest plots to make the dark energy plot work.

Is the mentality that "fans" get when they dont like something. If u think this is crazy go check Fallout forums.

It didn't have to end there.  Even if it did it would have still been better than the ending the game had.

Because people were desperate to get something worthwhile out of the ME3 ending and hyped up IT theory to an absurd degree, regardless of dubious foundations.

I for the most part allready reconciled with the fact of a soft reboot.

Will have to wait until the game comes out how in practise it will give you the option to choose your own cannon or not.

See no point in speculating.  Had my "fit" about the Andromeda galaxy and moved along and hope they stick with it now.

The content was ****.

This thread may be an allegory for ME:A, if you think about it. Time will tell.

Too much interest, too much popularity with the Mass Effect Trilogy set in the Milky Way.

This means too much of an opportunity for EA to make even more money.

I bet that we will eventually return to the MW in some fashion.

Spoiler

All I know is I had Shepard shoot the tube. Besides, I believe the ship heading to Andromeda, leaves before the events of ME3
