I'm trying to play through the game for the 2nd time, and would really like to remove the minimap from the game.

The only way I currently know how to do this is hiding all UI features, which makes the game almost unplayable in combat (I don't my health...).

I've scoured the forums and nexusmods community for something that would give us freedom over the UI, and alas I've found nothing.

It's 2016, surely someone cleverer than I has made/figured out someway to remove the minimap and/or alter the UI.

It would also fix the issue if could remove all markers on the map/minimap.

I'm mainly looking for a greater sense of adventure/exploration, instead of just following points of interest on the map.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kyle

If there is another place I should post this instead, please point me in that direction.

I never saw a mod for that. but can't you just toggle the UI back on when you enter combat? Clunky as hell, of course.

Mods are limited by the capability of the tools that we have available. For all of the great work that has been, and is still being, put into the tools, there are limitations with the Frostbite engine that hinder those efforts.

I'd suggest making a thread over on the DAITools forums if you want to talk about or suggest a mod for this.

There is a setting that hides the UI when you are not in combat, and it pops back in when you enter that state. However, I can tell you from experience that it can be quite annoying if you're in a map that has not been cleared, as you will continually see it pop back on as you near bandits, bears, etc. It's really a great shame that there is not a hotkey to hide the UI, as in previous games. Of course, this works for the entire UI, so you would not even see subtitles for party banter, if that's something you rely on.

Subtitles would be bad, yeah. My below-min PC can't keep up with all the audio, and sonetimes drops the wrong threads.

Depending on setup, you could try being close enough to the screen so the minimap is out of your primary FOV. I had this when I was experimenting with using a big TV as a monitor, though I abandoned the experiment because the TV wasn't as good for text work.

I think the theory of the design was to only put stuff on the map which was in your sight-line or you'd been told the location of, but the "?" icons seem to have been added on top of that. Those really should be toggleable if the minimap itself isn't.
