So we're playing as a human, but what does that mean? [Video]

Agreed.
It should be for discussing the upcoming game on all levels, whether it be positive or negative. I don't come here to shill, but neither do I come here to incessantly bash.

You answered to your own question. Playing as sth you are is simply less fun than playing as sth you are not. There is reason why tons of games have race selections.
Which games? There aren't many RPGs being made, and the ones that are are tons better and more fleshed out than the half-assed crap Bioware does. D&D is like a Mountain that has been mined and chiseled for 30 years. For example. Sci-fi wise, there isn't much at all. There's Shadowrun, but that bullds upon a lot of D&D ideas too. And it's also old. And not half-assed. So if you're gonna do it right, then do it like this.
Other than that, just making this some kind of arbritrary benefit ignores what makes a story good or not. A story is good for other reasons. Not how fantastical they are or how they are transport the imagination completely from humanity. It's like thinking the Godfather or the Count of Monte Cristo would be that much better, if only they had Orcs. Missing the whole point on what makes the Godfather or Monte Cristo what they are.

This is really subjective. Not everyone might like to play as different races. Or like to play as them but still prefer humans, or find it equally fun.

Basically all MMORPG's or at least majority, The Elder Scrolls games, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Dragon Age games -2, games like Warcraft and Heroes of Might and Magic to name few I have played. In games where you do your own character it's quite quite common thing to have at least ^^

MMOs are barely games to me, but whatever... sure. OK. ![]()
I like extra races, don't get me wrong. I just want a story premise written around it first.. instead of the other way around, as if it automatically enriches things. And those other settings you mentioned are still better than what Bioware does. Even in a failed game like Amalur, the races were seperate and unique. Same with Elder Scrolls, even though all of their plots suck. At least their lore is good.
We don't even know the story of Mass Effect Andromeda, but this demand keeps popping up. It reminds me of DAI, when people had issues with this or bemoaned how awful DA2 was (because humans are "boring"), and they didn't even know the story there either. They just put their foot down as if this would make it instantly better. And Bioware caved in, as if it was important. When it wasn't. The story never changed and in the end, the majority of their stats showed human characters were the most played. It's a case of the tail wagging the dog. Like everything it seems these days.

I mainly played as Qunari but even I had my limits when it was so obvious the game wasn't developed with them in mind. All of the outfits looked like ass on them at any rate. Ah well. That's my tangent.

MMO's, most of them anyway, are grinds with, if you're lucky, a little story element interruption.

Yeah I like to play all of them equally. No real preference.

I stopped my Qunari play through mid way when I saw how dopey and sloppy he looked all the time. Especially back at skyhold. It seemed like they took some fat human's clothes and told my guy to wear it.
