So not sure if anyone's mentioned it before but in my current run of DAI, I marked the Dead Hand and upon reading the small codex that popped up, I got the impression that this hand may have been part of a structure that was dependent on the Fade being everywhere. Because that seems to be the only explanation that can account for where the (alleged) rest of the statue went. Nothing groundbreaking but thought I'd share.

I would link the codex, but I'm on my iPod. Which is very old and can't do much :(

Don't know if you have played Trespasser but there is a codex in there that tells of a huge statue being built to honour Elgar'nan; I think that hand may well be what is left of it.   So, yes, it probably did rely on the magic of the Fade and broke apart without it.

In my part of the world it can be a hassle to get DLC, so I haven't played Trespasser yet.
But interesting to know that it might be Elgar'nan's hand.

When I first played the game, I genuinely thought it may have been the hand of what I called a Dwarven Colossus.

Keep in mind that this was prior to the Decent DLC, and that back then the "giant things that is connected tot he dwarves" had no real name at the time. So I called these 'mountain tall dwarven connected being' "Colossi" as a placeholder name and I assumed that they were vaguely dwarvish in appearance despite their height. Like a really big grandfather.

Now though I think its just a statue hand.
