What are Bioware's tendencies for reveals? How do you think ME:A's will go?

How does Bioware start their game info dump?  Just at E3/EA play?

For those of you that were around and paying attention in the other Mass Effect days and the Dragon Age days....how were character reveals done?  Was it totally random or is more like a character a month they announce or what does the past say?

I know they never confirmed MP was in DA: I until literally weeks before it released.

They don't really have a recognizable pattern. Some games have reveals that seem random and others have reveals that are structured.

I'm hoping for more or less nothing until close to release otherwise I'll have to bail early because I'm planning on an information blackout. I felt Dragon Age: Inquisition spoiled way too much information even in it's trailers.

I think at E3 we will get a 10-15 minute long gameplay demonstration. Probably a 15-20 minute Q&A afterwards or the next day. That's what ME3 and DA:I had at the E3 before their releases IIRC. They will probably sprinkle information here and there until release, but I would bet the bulk of it will be at E3.

I wonder if they will do a demo tho. I thought ME:3's demo was a huge success especially with the multiplayer. However the datamining that lead to the leak was kind of a huge problem.

I dont care, but I just want to know two things. 1) how the ark gets to Andromeda and 2) when it leaves the MW. After that, information blackout.

To me, those two questions are fundamental because it is extremely easy for them to horribly FUBAR the plot of Andromeda if they don't get it right or if they sweep questions like this under the rug. Once I know that they went to a reasonable effort to address the change of setting in a lore friendly way, I wont be nearly as worried about the overarching plot being sub-par. And I sort of am right now, which says a lot, since I have always (and still do), supported the move to Andromeda.

But after ME3...I am much more cautiously optimistic about Andromeda. Whereas otherwise I would be 100% full steam ahead hype train right now.

If I had to guess there will be information given out at E3 and maybe a gameplay demo to go along with it. After that we'll just have to kind of wait and see, maybe something at Gamescom in August or maybe something on N7 day in November.

I'd like to have more info about gameplay and fewer hints at story. ME3's build was very well done aside from the leaks.

Bioware has been so unusually tight-lipped about this project that I'm not sure if past trends can be used as a best guess for info dumps.

If Andromeda was like any other Bioware title as far as marketing goes, we'd know the basic plot and most of the companions by now.

I agree, I think the reaction to the leaked Dragon Age: Inquisition footage from PAX and the way people reacted to it combined with how commenting on social media about Mass Effect 3 backfired has led to BioWare being more quiet about Mass Effect: Andromeda then any other game they have released from what I recall.

Even without the leak, I think they went overboard with information about DA:I. They introduced all companions long before the release of the game, talked about the different areas and the story... by the time we could play the game, we knew half of it already.

They will have to release some sort of info before ME:A is being released but something inconsequential like a few screenshots of different planets would be enough in my book.

I'm not going to pre-order anyway, no matter what they do. If the reviews 2-3 weeks after release say the game is good, then I'll think about getting it. The days where I could buy any BioWare game without worrying that I'm getting value for my money are long over.

Interesting.

I don't care about the journey to A. The leaked Plot Theme gives you a starting point which is about a new team and is independent from the trilogy baggage.

I would be willing to bet they have revised any reveal strategy.   DA:I went way overboard.    Half the stuff they said about the game in the reveals were left on the cutting room floor.    Half the criticism the game got was for it being a much different game than what everyone was shown.

Fallout 4 has since shown that a much shorter hype train is probably much better.    I figure it will start with EA Play and slowly build until release.   Hopefully they will keep most of the details hidden away though.

Fallout 4 has since shown

I hope that Bioware is not doomed to forever try to ape Bethesda trends and fail.

But yeah, in general no information is better than false information.

I don't think it has anything to do with Bethesda and how they handled Fallout 4 for if it was like past trends they would have started to talk about Andromeda before Bethesda even announced Fallout 4.
