How is the spirit warrior spec supposed to make sense?

Here is the discipline's description:

"Although spirit warriors employ magical abilities, they are not mages; instead, they flirt with inhabitants of the Fade who agree to augment mortal abilities in exchange for a glimpse of the physical world."

The first problem is that a non-mage has no connection to the Fade. How would he even contact these spirits? Not to mention that a set of skills that depends on a spirit's interest in the physical world is unreliable.

What if it grows tired of the novelty and ends the deal with the Warden? We supposedly are dealing with benign spirits here. They aren't obsessed with the world of mortals like demons are.

The spirit warriors are lore breaking for several reasons

1)They are mages and non-mages at the same time
2)They must be virtuous otherwise spirit will never help them
3)They are like the dreamers mages,in the sense that they can cross the veil at will and without the need of lyrium(their last ability)

I like them gameplay wise even if they don' make sense
i think that Bioware wanted to improve warriors because mages were too overpowered and they ended up into making warriors too overpowered

That is why this spec was dropped in the newer games, while others remained or were merely relocated/renamed.

2h warriors became pretty decent in Awakening though.... and just with their raw skills.

That's the knight-enchanter. The lore is the same, with it originally coming from ancient elves.

I know, I just realized it. But meh, I like Spirt Warriors; fun class. Made an OP monsters out of my Cousland.

Spirit warriors can be gameplay breaking because they operate via Dodge and attack speed.
A SW with specific gears can reach a 100% Dodge and this mean that is basically untouchable by enemies.

I haven't played them that much, besides as archers... which is ridiculous too, with the right gear.
