Throw 2
Warp 4 (Heavy warp)
Tech Armor 4 (Power Armor)
Overload (Heavy Overload)
Cyro Blast 2
Defender 4 (Raider)
Extra skill 2

I want the class to be a powerhouse and being able to take out those pesky geth primes and heavy mecs in one or two warp/overloads with an smg to back it up while cooling and of course to be very hard to kill. I play on Hardcore by the way. So does this build suck, is it good?

I am just working out the same thing - started a new game on "Hardcore" this morning and am playing Sentinel.

You really get pwnd far more easily once the difficulty ramps up. First play through I did on "normal" and I genuinely only died about 3 times in the whole game.

First hour on hardcore and I have been reduced to giblets 5-6 times already!

Your build seems good to me - I think heavy warp has to be the first focus as it really deals a lot of damage to most variants of enemy, overcoming your relatively weak weapon abilities.

This is the build I used on Insanity:

Throw 2
Warp 4 (Heavy warp)
Tech Armor 4 (Power Armor)
Overload 3
Cryo Blast 1
Defender 4 (Raider)
Warp Ammo 4 (Squad)

It's similar to what you have, but I maxed out Warp ammo instead of overload. But I used Garrus and Miranda alot, so I had plenty of overload.

This is the exact build I am heading for.  Only level 23 or so, my Warp Ammo is at level 2, but otherwise everything is the same.  I am a bit indecisive regarding going for Overload or Warp Ammo at level 4.  Warp Ammo is a powerhouse.  Overload is very useful, but the SMG with Warp Ammo really tears through almost anything.
What bonus weapon did you guys go for?  I picked up the SR, and regretted it briefly.  Now I thoroughly love it.  Its an amazing weapon added to the Sentinel I think.  I do still want to mess around with an AR though.

When/how do you get an extra weapon skill?

Completing loyalty missions will allow you to train in another skill. You get 1 new skill for every loyalty mission that you do but you can only train in one at a time.

At a certain point in the game you do a mission and it happens automatically.  I think I had done maybe 3 or 4 character missions when this one happened.

Edit- just thought on this, and it happened later.  I've been playing almost non-stop, so things are kinda a blur.  I feel like I was around level 15, though.

Ah, alright thanks. I was thinking on taking a class without Sniper Rifles and then taking that as my additional weapon later on... but that seems like a long wait to go without a Sniper Rifle if you're the type that likes Sniper Rifles ;)

I did one Loyalty already, Zaeen's which gave me the Inferno Grenade, but I'm only level 7 or 8. I went with Infiltrator for the Sniper/Cloak combo so that's pretty much the same as my tech Inferno ability anyway, heh.

If anyone can remember specifics if the new weapon ability is a level based bonus or mission based, that'd be great to know more about.

It's definitely mission based. You find a pile of weapons during one of the more interesting missions that lets you either grab a new weapon of the types you can use or train in a new weapon.

What weapon is recommended with the Sentinel? I was thinking about Sniper since I've hear so many good things about it, but I was a huge fan of the AR in ME1. I also thought that the tech armor actually seems like a useful tool for close combat so I was thinking about shotty. Any suggestions?

This is exactly what I'm using as well. Cryo Blast doesn't seem worth the points, especially if you have teammates with Pull Field.
