So what exactly happens when you promote your character?

I know that you go back to level one and get an ability point  but do you lose all your spells/abilities and gear?

And if you have done all the work to get a great build and all of that, what is the logic of promoting? (Besides the ability point?)

You gain the stat for all of your characters.  You lose your ability points, not your gear.

No you don't get an extra skill point after promoting.

What you do get is an extra stat (consitution / willpower / cunning) depending on your class that you promoted.

Each point of:

Constitution gives + 0.5% melee resistance and 5 extra health

Willpower gives + 0.5% magic resistance and 0.5% attack

Cunning gives + 0.5% ranged resistance and 0.5% crit chance

There is no cap to your health and attack attribute, so you can make yourself unkillable and hit like a truck. Damage resistances cap at 80%. Crit chance cap at 100%. This is why you see all those "godly" players mass killing everything simply because they have thousands of promotions.

These attributes apply to all of your classes forever.

You don't lose any gear at all, but your ability points will be re-set and you get skill points as you level up again.

Your abilities are reset, but not your gear. Promoting boosts either your constitution, cunning, or willpower, each of which increases your melee resistance, ranged resistance, and magic resistance respectively.

The ability point you're talking about is the promotion count for that character (assuming you're talking about the number on the bottom-right of the character card in the selection screen). It doesn't change anything stat-wise.

I'm sure there's more info about it, but others will explain it soon enough.

So damage resist cap is 80% that meen 160 promotions right? cun 200 for 100% crit hits so it does not meen, lets say u have like 300 con, you still cant get over 80% melee resist? If i understand correct

Yeah, but also someone with 300 con will have 650 more hp over someone who got 170 con.  So even though they both got 80% melee resist, a punch to the 300 con guy will not hurt him as much as to the 170 con guy. :P

Agree so onely skill whats noth worth doing over 200 is cun because u have max resist and max crit chance, con still give hp and willpower gives damage :)

Especially since the primary source of your healing, heal on kill, is percentage based.  So, if you both get 10% from a kill, the one with more constitution also gets more health points returned.

tldr?  promote, promote, promote.

Seeing as everyone's pretty much covered everything all I'm going to add is that it is probably best to focus on cunning first, just got mine to 101 & it makes a staggering amount of difference with that crit chance, as for finding a good build, hey don't worry too much as you can easily put the points back in as you level, plus as your stats increase you'll find certain abilities will be less effective.

Just my little addition.

This is actually incorrect. These are defense values, not 'damage resist'. There are actually multiple variables that are 'damage resist' of different types. You cap out at the melee, magic, or ranged defense value of 80%, but there are other ways to increase or decrease damage taken-- just not through promotions.

So I could have 80% melee defense and let's say 50% damage resist to physical, so my net damage taken would be 10% assuming no armor or other forms of damage reduction.

Additionally, the first 10 stat values aren't used for actual bonus benefit calculation. So you need 170 promotes to max defense values at level 1 and no armor upgrades.

Actual melee/ranged/magic defense values are maxed long before 170 through armor upgrades and passives.

Craft it :)

Craft the Inquisition one but don't wear it (this will unlock AW but armor is kind of crappy)

Craft the Inquisition Warmage robe but don't wear it (less crappy but if you have mats, make the next one)

Craft the Inquisition Warmage robe (color) and wear that one.

or if you like tights... do

Craft the Inquisition one but don't wear it (this will unlock AW but armor is kind of crappy)

Craft the Enlightened Warrior's Armor but don't wear it (less crappy but if you have mats, make the next one)

Craft the Enlightened Warrior's Armor (color) and wear that one.

If you don't have enough cloth, Make staff blades (staff weapon upgrades) with your metal.. and salvage them for cloth.  Don't use any cotton for making armor.  Save them for making heal on kill weapon upgrades.

Sorry to ask about this (remember I am only 150 games or so in) but to craft it I would need a schematic. I only seem to have two armour schematics and thats for the Legionnaire. I have more crafting material then I know what to do. HUNDREDS of cloth, leather and metal. I have my staffs some really good, high powered blades and grips.

I was wondering about armour schematics. Are they looted or found in chests?

No you don't need schematic for multiplayers.  Just click the arrow buttons next to the "Legionnaire" name (or whatever button that is on your game controller that scroll thru things).. you will scroll thru all the agents' schematics.  Higher level schematics come out after you made the lower level one... that's why you have to start with inquisition armor (common).. move on to (blue).. then (purple).

But don't go rushing out and try to make all purple armors for all agents.  Because if you have not already discovered, you will get drakescale armors from the Store for free if you completed 1,000,000 xp points for each of the 3 archtypes (rogue, mage, warrior).   So eventually you will get all drakescale armors which got the highest armor rating.. but may or may not be the best looking armor for the agent.  Except for Virtuoso.. he doesn't get drakescale.   But anyway you get the idea.  You will still need to unlock the AW first before he could wear drakescale.

SON OF A BI....... *face palms* Bloody hell I had no idea. Thank you so much. If I knew you in real life I'd buy you a drink. The good news is since I have not used any of my crafting materials and I can make a REALLY nice set.

EDIT: And yes I already have the drake scale armour for the mages, less the AW of course.

Well, looks like it´s a good idea to read the forum :D gratulations

And the drakescale armors do not unlock an agent you still need to loot or craft the first basic armor for them :)
