Me too, always get INFP. But I've read enough criticism on Myers-Briggs to not pay much attention to the score.

That's disappointing. Here I was preening about how much I liked what it had to say.

Of course, it's probably wise to be skeptical about most personality tests and quizzes.

From what little I know of you, the description sounds about right IMO.
Still, it is an internet quiz so take it with a grain of salt.

We were fine, but Belgium killed it.

I wasn't a big fan of that one. The Netherlands, on the other hand, had a great singer, but he chose a so-so song.

my roommate was a psych major and constantly ragged on Meyers-Brigg, she said there was a much better one that tested, blah blah blah

I just took this personality test, and I'm surprised by how much I like the results.

I'm INFP.

Has anyone else taken this?

Yep, multiple times and in many sites.. I'm always INFJ so I guess that must be true ^^

Since they wouldn't have hosted it I'm glad that they didn't. But Dami Im was pretty awesome with her performance, I have to admit :)

From what I've heard, they would have co-hosted with a European country, if they won, so it wouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't mind having them host, but I get the time zones would be an issue.
Also, I was surprised that so many people were against them not winning, because "they're not from Europe," while forgetting about Israel.

Well Israel has been in competition since 70s so people are used of having them. This is first time Australia was competing and it does bring up some questions like should Eurovision start inviting other countries like US or Japan to compete as well. I do wonder if Eurovision is just going to become worldwide thing eventually cause they do keep adding countries ^^

Actually, it's the second time, I think they even scored quite high last year. Even Morocco took part one time, so the rules at this point are a shrug and "probably no one from the Americas."

It would be great to have this become a worldwide thing. Seeing as Europe is pretty closely integrated, which was the whole point of EV in the first place, it would make sense to apply the same concept on a broader scale.

They were guest last year and not properly competiting though. It has become quite big and not only about Europe anymore.. I guess it could become larger, but then it would lose it's European identity that it still has and Europeans would lose Eurovision from their identity as well. Cause now it's kinda thing that is "ours" and I guess that's reason why many don't think Australia should be included.

So from what I remember and quickly looked up on Wikipedia EuroVision eligibility comes from being in the European Broadcasting Area, or part of the Council of Europe, so it has always covered Europe plus a bit of North Africa and the Middle East. Hence, Israel, Azerbijan and so on being allowed to enter.

Australia is different. The thing is, we have a large immigrant population from all over Europe, and we have a TV channel, SBS, which was established to provide international programmes (particularly non-English ones) as part of embracing multiculturalism. SBS broadcasts EuroVision and it has had a healthy following here for a while now - complete with parties and brutal drinking games. I don't know how it worked out but SBS managed to make enough of a point (and put enough money up?) to get a special guest invite.

(Edit) I'm not really in favor of it, but so far the results haven't been terrible. We did have to take 'mentions of Australia' off the drinking game though.

I always get INTJ for those personality tests. Mostly I think the questions just lead you into reporting how you view your own personality and then the results repeat those things back to you in loftier words with descriptions that can apply to pretty much anyone ("You are a nice person, except for the times when you're not."). They're more of a fun exercise in self-categorization than a real test of any intrinsic quality. I do enjoy taking them, though.

I mean it's not as if they'd add 150 countries overnight, but some new additions would be nice. A lot of people voted for Australia this year, so I think most don't really mind.

Since Russia is allowed to compete, despite technically being in Eurasia at best, I suppose we can't complain that they decided to bend the rules for Australia. Might as well simply open it up to everyone if they want to join in, the more the merrier?

It's obvious that some countries intentionally don't seek to win (since it's costly to host), so I don't see why the Eurovision execs don't simply assign hosting duties on a rotor system to various Euro countries, while everyone chips some cash into the pot to help the host nation foot the bill. Seems like it'd be more fair?

Me too, always get INFP. But I've read enough criticism on Myers-Briggs to not pay much attention to the score.

I was reminded of the Forer effect, the tendency of people to rate statements as highly accurate descriptions of themselves, even though they could apply to anybody. Psychologist Bertram Forer gave a personality test to his students, completely ignored the results, and gave every student the same analysis, which reads as follows:

You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.

The above evaluation is, of course, largely vacuous (For instance, do you know anyone who's actually thrilled when their goals aren't met, or who fancies themselves a total conformist?). He then asked his students to rate the accuracy of the description on a 5 point scale (with 5 as the most accurate), and the mean score his students gave was 4.2.

This effect is also frequently exploited by cold readers and other BS artists to give the impression that they know way more about your personality than they actually do. For example, I could say, "Normally you keep to yourself, but when the right circumstances come along you become energized by interacting with others." This statement has little content: It say that you're introverted except when you aren't. But because of the way it's worded, it sounds like genuine insight into who you are as a person.

So anyone watching the Euros?

Anyone watching OITNB season 4?

Anyone think that short clip of the asari from EA play doesn't look like a dude? Anyone? :P

We've been talking about it a bit in the general gaming thread. There's actually been a bit of debate about that in here.

I'll say that I don't think she looks very pretty, but I also don't consider that to be a major cause for criticism. Not every character should be beautiful.

I think it's difficult to judge from one clip where she's making a face. I thought she was feminine enough, though. Then again, I also think Cassandra is gorgeous and feminine, and we know what some say about her, so...

I'll have to poke my head in then. Herp a derp. :P

Reminds me of the hullabaloo of the DAI ladies, sure were some interesting insults being flung around back then too. :P

I also saw a 15+ thread complaining about asari eyebrows, ah BSN you're special. I'm a slowpoke, I just got back lol.

I'm watching the euros. I'm frightened about Italia and Spain. They are the strongest countries so far. I'm not totally relieved with the way France played its last matchs lately.

As for the Asari, I like her design. On one hand, I am puzzled bcause of the reactions as if all characters should be beautiful, on the other hand, I don't see what's wrong with not finding the Asari showed attractive.

i've seen some female gamers a bit on the defensive, telling to some male gamers who would like beautiful ladies to be romanced telling them to go find a girlfriend. i found that quite rude and agressive. We all want and hope something. It's fine to disagree but why the need to insult ?

Someone even claimed that those who said they found the Asari ugly had ugly personalities.

It's again something i don't understand on the bsn anyway. That's probably why I am much more colder on internet than in real life. People are unecessarily hostile or sarcastic, and it's popular apparently.
