He was totally messing with me
That's why I cursed him. I can testify that the bad guys get tougher too
Welp, it's what I would have done too, good sibling tbh. ![]()
Yup, once you get near the Glowing Sea prepare to get rekt thoroughly and consistently. ![]()

Glowing sea imo seems to be the best place to bring followers, you can leave them as meat shields as you pick them off from afar. Danse got to go through that with some alpha deathclaws. Also did that with him when fighting a Mireluck King and Queen. Poor Danse, he does me a great meat shield though.

I always popped my companion in a power suit when I headed towards that zone. Give em a fighting chance at least, hate having to re-load all the time from deaths when I'm there. ![]()
I don't think I've ever put them in a power suit before then again the times I did take someone there it was usually Danse, boy makes a good pack mule as well. Kind of wish the power suits were better at keeping the rads out though would be nice to be wearing something with more protection than the hazmat suit. (Unless that got fixed in the last update? Then awesome)
You have to modify suits to add rad resistance. It won't be better than the hazmat suit, but it's close. Plus you can get resistance packs from two missions (one side quest, one from a radiant BOS quest) that make it a lot easier.
Guess I did a worse job than I thought cause I was trying to do a balance of rad resistance and carry weight for my suit but then again I was really only paying half attention and mostly working on it to spam Danse approval^^;

"Feeling a little creative today?"
He also gets hot and bothered, when you work on weapons. That nerd ![]()
I have played FO4 tons and have quite lot to say about it so I guess I'll just do big post about it ![]()
In terms of FO4 I'm really loving it. Have over 200 hours playtime with my main character "Average Joe", just finished Automatron DLC yesterday- though it had quite small story part, building robots is lot of fun.
I actually loved main story although many seem to not like it that much. It really hit me in the feels and there was some hard choices in the end part. Though I only hope that Bethesda would have made some factions more grey in FO4, I feel like they were more black and white even if there were bit of grey undertones it was quite easy to spot who are the good and who bad guys ^^ Even so I was very close of tearing up in one part at least so I can't say it was bad at all.
Somehow I'm in love with Preston even if he's quite goody-shoe and I usually like more grey characters. I kinda love how he has become meme, FO4 videos on youtube are full of comments like "Another settlement is in trouble, I'll mark it in your map", "At least it's not raining", "Babe"-- but then I also feel bit sad cause people are making jokes about him based on how much they dislike him and not like him? Feels weird liking him and still loving those jokes and memes.
I like pretty much all other companions as well, but I'm not sure how to rank them.. I guess I'll have to try romances as well.
In terms of build I think LUCK build is quite OP if you like using VATS a lot. Better criticals + critical banker are base of that build, then get everything below Mysterious Stranger and you get criticals that do tons of dmg all the time. I find Melee build quite fun to play as well, but it can be bit hard to build and play at times. "Blitz" from agility is must for that.
Last character I got far with level wise was mostly a pistol build, the special gun you got as part of the railroad was my best friend for it. I do like being able to put points into SPECIAL but I'm kind of regrettting not getting this on PC solely so I could kind of cheat and put some things around so I could mess with the leveling up system how I want. For example not having to waste points on making my basic damage do more. I find that just a slight silly but eh that's just me.
I got to try and force myself not to romance everyone this time, I tend to go for multiple romances just because I'm used to rping a certain kind of character in FO a lot. Kind of sad I can't remake her for FO4 given the start of the game.
Sorry was starting to get a little reminiscent of my fave Courier from New Vegas, my dear sweet crazy Cupcake.

I haven't really taken perks on certain weapons (expect melee for melee character) cause I just keep changing guns all the time based on how much ammo I have. That Railroad gun is quite great, though I like Kellogg's pistol in terms of pistols bit more, the dmg is just op in that.
I have no idea about earlier FO games, maybe I should try them out when I have exhausted FO4 completely. And romancing many characters didn't really come to my mind, I guess I'm used to Bioware level commitment (minus DAO).. but actually I might try romancing couple people with my "North", I think that would fit him. Not looking anything permanent for while after death of her beloved husband. Joe is solid with Preston though, no changing LI for him ![]()
Idiot Savant really is a mixed bag. If you go with 1 - 3 Intelligence it will be worth it, in my opinion. I tried with 6 once though so i could add Science as a perk aswell, but it never procced on any quests, only a few mobs now and then. I think there is a good balance between the procc and a good level of Intelligence for max levling speed though. I could talk about min-max all day
love it!
I have just 1 INT and it procs quite often for me, not that often in quest (though when it does you get sth like 600-1000 exp), but very often in fights and when crafting. The sound of it is bit annoying though ![]()
A little? The nearest one is like halfway down the map. Either he's terrible at reading maps, or he's messing with you
The game gets harder the more south you go, I think.
Basically this:

Why was maxing out affinity a mistake?
For a long time I used the weapon Danse gave me, Righteous Authority. With some mods, it's quite powerful. The gunslinger perk helped too.
This is just a general remark since I haven't played FO4. If my LI gave me a weapon (or armor), I would probably use it well past its usefulness. I tend to do this anyway with armor and weapons for appearance alone, so it's a good thing I usually play on casual/easy XD.
Also, for those on PC, you can use a console trick to get Danse out of his power armor. I watched the romance cutscenes on YT and that really seems to put a damper on the atmosphere, even without any interaction. Well, it would for me at any rate.

When you craft or use the Settlement mode and it proccs three times in a row the sound is annoying. But when you deliver a quest and suddenly it proccs and the XP just pours in, i love that. I had it proccing on a main quest, one of the last ones and i got like 2500 xp, it was glorious.

Yep the quest EXP bonuses are yummy. I got over 1000 EXP from one main quest as well. It's quite easy way to level faster.

Oh I did, kept it till the end. But it did help that the weapon was useful for about half of the game. There's a lot of little things like that you can do in FO4 that the game doesn't notice, but helps with roleplaying. For example, you can give your LI a wedding ring.
I'm also guilty of wearing armour that looks cool. I wore this although it was pretty weak even with the ballistic weave.
Concerning the command, you can do it far earlier (beds are used only when romanced). You do the command, and instruct him to use a terminal, and boom, he's normal. This way you can give him regular clothes right after you meet him.

I actually liked the cha-ching sound (outside of Settlements, of course). Thought it would get old after 3 games, but nope. I got fond of it like Silent Hill, and Dead Space interface sounds. The bigger offenders were the radio songs and Sooooooo bongo, bongo, bongo I don't want to leave the Congo oh no no no no nooooo
No, stop! Give me Atom Bomb Baby or the Wanderer already!

I don't mind cha-ching one, but Idiot Savant has also this one:
The "giggling" does get bit annoying at times.
That stupid laughed scared me the first time it went off in my game, I think it sounds a little more annoying for female characters than male character but I can't put my finger on why. Doesn't stop me from trying to save scum it to try and get it activated for quests though.
That reminds me I still need to turn in some quests for Goodneighbor and decide if I'm going to pair Dick with anyone, I try to find at least one person to couple my characters with for that lover's embrace perk.
Oh and Panda if you do go after more than one lover try not to do the flirting in front of ones you've flirted with or have a romance going with already, they tend to not like that that. Though sometimes flirting with NPCS can be fun. Like Piper or Cait when you 'flirt' with the singer in Goodneighbor.

O.o Ok this is deeply unsettling, glad I never chose it.
I haven't even actually really finished my first playthrough yet, because I'm so frustrating by the way I've boxed myself into a corner as a quadruple agent. The only faction I don't feel like I'm actually deceiving is the Minutemen, which is probably part of the reason I'm so enthusiastic about them.
My favorite things about the game:
Nick Valentine
Magnolia's songs on the Diamond city radio.
The Minutemen are probably the weakest faction when it comes to military power, but they are the only one that is not a bunch of douchenozzles. They are obviously the good choice in this game.
Many people have probably done this, but here is my playthrough of FO4 in one picture.

I think I like Railroad best, it has quite colorful cast of characters. Deacon, Dez, doctor, Tinker Tom and Glory- they are all pretty great people. I like Minutemen as well, but they tend to be all about Preston for me- they lack in characters a bit. I also like Railroad's goals although I don't agree with wiping memories of synths. I'm bit bummed that Bethesda didn't make BoS and Institute more grey though, they are quite black to me and I'd have liked having more conflicted feelings about those factions.
Factions were part of the reason I never finished New Vegas that and my character I usually played as didn't give a hell about them either.
I do find it pretty fun to talk to some people about the factions though like hearing my little brother telling me why he'll side with the BOS and a friend of mine trying to explain to me why the 'secret' faction is the best one.
Spoilers about the Railroad and some synths
But yeah, The BOS and Institute ended up being far from grey.
