I'll never pre-order a game in this day and age with all the pre-order hype and games getting pre-orders on debut.
I made that mistake with Far Cry 4 and MGSV.
Never again.

Don't kid yourself boys and girls, after ME3 and DA:I Bioware games aren't worth pre-ordering. Hell, no game is worth pre-ordering these days, except for one.
Eh, except for those crazy figurine editions, those things are price-hungry.
But since it's FromSoft, I'm willing to not care and even throw my money at the Season Pass.

Damn ninja! I was gonna link this..
Can't wait to actually get online with this and gull the ..help the gullible on their path.

Yeah but those artbooks, the music tracks and the other stuff makes it kinda worth it though. Also the collectors editions come with the season pass which are pretty worth it.
As for andromeda, I'd like to wait a bit to see the initial reviews before I'm playing but I'm definitely gonna get it. Probably just not on launch.
I haven't seen anything worth pre-ordering... yet. Show me some new cut scenes, some game play, some squad mates, some enemies, some conversations... some... thing. Then, we'll talk pre-order.
Even Inquisition which was kinda flop due to MMOness feel of it supplied me with around 400 hours of gameplay. It was worth the investment.
Mass Effect is epic not only due to the epic story of it but the gameplay.
Each game was bit different and overall each class \ group composition was different.
After playing ME3 MP (At some point I was 1st place on my national table) I pretty much ravaged the single player at insanity it was ****** easy.
But,
It was stupidly fun.
You play 300-400 hours at ME3 MP and got 2-3 useable powers then BANG you can use 6-7 at the same time it creates some "Oh ****" moments when you suddenly realize how OP everything is. And it feels good.
So bottom line I would pre-order.
400 hours? How many fetch quests did you do exactly?

not in one go lol
I had 40 hours one (first one) where I got to skyhold then even though I played male character game referred to him as female so it broke romances and such. Had to restart as there was no patch.
Next one was roughly 70 hours where I played before all dlcs with first full complete of the game.
Second playthrough was around 30-40 hours for insanity or whatever it is called diffculty where I just got enough levels and zerged to the end.
Then third playthrough I had all dlcs and took me near to 150 hours where I did everything slowly and collected everything etc...
No games are worth preordering. It's not like they are going to run out of copies is it, and paying money for something of unknown quality and substance is stupid.
Still, a fool and his money.

But you can always cancel a pre-order, it's not as if you're contractually obligated to keep the order.
But then I would never pre-order the base edition of a game, I would only pre-order a collector's edition or some other kind of special package, since those tend to sell out relatively quickly and often have physical components that you can't get digitally, like books or statue figures. If I were buying just the game and no other bonus items, I would just get it digitally either day 1 if I'm absolutely sure I want it, or wait a bit and do more research into the game.
And if the game is part of a series that has been consistently good, I really don't see a problem with pre-ordering if you can reasonably assume that the next one will continue being good. That's by no means any kind of insurance, but I give the developers good faith if they have a history of putting out good products. I pre-ordered the Gears of War 3 Epic Edition and I have no regrets. One of the best shooters I've ever played and it had some awesome little extras for the collector part of me. I also got the Collector's Edition of Gears of War 2 when that released in 2008, and was also pleased then. Based on my history here and my love for the Gears of War series, I may pre-order Gears of War 4 when it's announced what kind of items the special editions will have with them. It helps that I will also be playing the multiplayer beta for that game, so I can see first-hand how the game will play and cam help inform my opinion of whether it's worth ordering early.

Yah, I mean, last time I played through, I did everything I could, and it took me like 125-135 hours? Somewhere in there?
this is why the gaming industry is going to shit.
Damn!! I should sell some old games!!!!Me too. Cause I don't see it as a waste to spend my money on video games, I see it as an investment. When I got divorced a few years ago I needed some cash because I refused to take money from my ex husband and I decided to sell some of my old ps2 games. I think I sold around 3 games, not more and I made nearly 800 pounds in total!! For OLD PS2 GAMES lol. They'll probably be even more worth in the future but what the hell, I have hundreds of games laying around still xD It's an Investment.
You turned your back on everything you love about Mass Effect. I wish I preordered ME3! I really wanted that N7 hoodie.Don't kid yourself boys and girls, after ME3 and DA:I Bioware games aren't worth pre-ordering. Hell, no game is worth pre-ordering these days, except for one.

No.
What happened here is that Mass Effect 3 was a massive waste of time, and it got no better with the Dragon Age franchise. To expect BioWare to suddenly get their shit together and release something KOTOR-level amazing is delusional.
IIRC, it's the same reason why you won't see DA:I on Steam. EA wanted to do their own service with Origin and after I think 2012, they stopped allowing any new games to be on Steam. So it looks like it's just a business decision. It might happen, but it isn't very plausible.
Now, I've heard there was an actual falling out between the companies, but it could be online "news" exaggerating yet again.
Becuase Steam is so much better than Origin, lol.

Origin deleted all of my DAI saves at one point
Steam hasn't deleted my saves as of late.

Don't ever evee ever use cloud sync for saves.

i spent hundreds of hours playing both of those titles.
Based on track record, I'd say a MEA pre-order is an entirely safe bet for me.

Mass effect 3 only downfall was the original way the ending was delivered.
after the extended cut and leviathan DLC the player can understand the ending and it's passable.
but ME3 brought up some seriously good moments like Touchanka and ranoch. epic moments,

It's not just the ending, the rest of the game was pretty s**t too.
