Is the new Battlefront actually that much different from the original? I didn't stick with the series.
It lacks space battles, bot matches, map diversity, and a tacked on singleplayer campaign, so yes, I'd say it was fairly different. Though, of all the multiplayer exclusives of late, it's the absolute worst. Using it as an indication of a downward trend isn't very fair.
I've seen survival horror go from atmospheric encounters with dark enigmatic forces, whilst conserving resources and avoiding captures to a multiplayer co-op action cover based shooter genre, in multiple IPs. I've seen MMOs go from virtual worlds constructed to house massive amounts of players and foster their interactions, to being classified as cover based shooters where you can sometimes party with three other players in an instanced game.
I expect nothing but moronic moves and pandering to the lowest common denominator for the industry.
1. EA isn't the absolute mess that is Atari (and I guess Capcom in the other case. Regardless, the degradation of the horror genre is completely irrelevant to BioWare)
2. BioWare has already confirmed ME:A will have singleplayer; are you calling them liars?
3. Plenty of people enjoy both Destiny and The Division, not just this supposed lowest common denomiator
4. You can't really blame consoles for not being able to handle the scale of a proper MMO
