Hi!

I would really like to buy the Trespasser and Decent DLC, and I understand that an effort was put in to these DLC when they were made, but the time has come to put them on sale. As a student I do not have the resources to buy things at these prices and would love to be handed a discount for them so I too can 'play game'. Is there any plans on the radar to lower the price on these DLCs?

I'm not some official Bioware spokesman or anything, but the last time I saw any DLC for any Bioware game on sale was... never.

Then you're not paying attention, Almostfaceman, because I saw the DLC on sale around Christmas.

As to plans for another sale, OP, you won't get an answer to that. But you could buy the GOTY edition, which gives you all the DLC for less than what they cost individually.

Also, what platform are you on? The Descent and Trespasser aren't available on PS3 or XBox360.

Man's got a point, though. There's a big difference between infrequent sales and no sales ever.

Not really and definitely not a big difference.

I don't pay attention to sales. Anybody's, anywhere. Yet, somehow, Steam has made me aware of their (fairly) frequent sales. The same can't be said of Origin. If they have sales, I don't ever hear of them or ever benefit from them.

I've looked at DLC for Bioware games almost a decade old and the prices haven't been reduced. I've seen more than one person comment on this.

This means what I said in the first place. I'm not some official Bioware person (hint: this means I'm not aware of all things Bioware does all the time, so I'm not saying they NEVER have sales). But, their sales have been infrequent enough not to benefit me.

So, there was no reason to nit-pick me in the first place. Which is why the meme.

While steam frequently has sales they have a much broader range of products with which to have sales with.

Also if say X product is not an every day X number of uses consumables and you have a sale regularly for said product then people will only buy on a sale.

A supermarket can put Ramen on buy 1 get 1 because it's a single use item. You eat it and it's done. DLC is you buy once and you have until EA servers are destroyed.

The GOTY edition of Dragon Age Inquisition is on sale on XboxOne right now for $40. That includes all the DLC.

I recall the game and its DLCs going on sale on Origin a few times last year when there were big gaming events .... (I don't really follow these events so I don't really remember their names, sorry). So, yeah, I think if you waited it will come.

I don't really follow this. A sale you don't know about can't benefit you, yep. But whose fault is it that you don't know about the sales?

Well, if you wait long enough they give them away. I got most of the DLC's for DA:O for free, but then the game was like 5 yrs old, which was okay, because I had just started playing. Since DA:I is only a year old and then won GOY and they put out a new edition at Christmas, it will be awhile for the prices to go down. The DLC's aren't even a year old yet. I believe the first one came out April 2015. I share your pain tho. I live on a limited income, so I can't afford any of the DLC's either, but I do make a point to browse the Origin Store weekly, just in case there's a sale going on. Watch around Father's Day or the 4th of July. They usually have sales then. If not, then there is always Christmas. Good Luck.

You seriously want to keep talking about this?

Also, Steam has sales on garbage all the time, but only once in a while (a year, usually) the worthwhile products are given a sale.

BioWare products all fall into the "worthwhile" category, thus Steam doesn't have sales any more often than Origin in my view.

Besides holiday sales when do places EVER advertise their sales ahead of time?

I have never told a customer at the supermarket I used to work at "wait if you waited 3 weeks before buying that gallon of milk you can save a whole 5 cents"

The only time they are announced is of course holidays to try and compete with other locations. Or what technically is a price drop for the product due so people don't get peeved that they bought a 3ds at the $300 price mark 2 days before it perminatly drops to $150

In this case it is origins/EA/bioware fault.

There marketing regarding sales is simply bad. Even though I don't care about 95% of steam sales I still know about them.

The Origin client isn't excatly well done either regarding sales. The window popping up after launchin origin shows Titan stuff for like 1 year now. Steam pages and advertisement is changed every few days.

So let's see. I just started Origin and the front page of the store shows me no sale what so ever. Steam gives me around 10 or so. For the better or the worse Steam is simply a gentleman regarding sales. He shows you some stuff and doesn't bother you besides that.

If I actually check the drop down menu for "Specials" (Angebote - got the german version) then there is only ONE reduced game (19 to 15). Besides that nothing but only one free game.

One might argue that steam as more games hence more sales. Well this is not the point. I know about Steam sales not because of the amount of games but because of well placed advertisment.  Again: The window popping up after launchin origin shows Titan stuff for like 1 year now. The fact I can switch between pages in this popped up thing doesn't make it any better. I am a customer and I am lazy. Pretty basic stuff regarding advertisement.

People don't know or realize there is as sale because the advertisment is bad. I am using origin on daily basis for almost 2 years now and I can remember like one Dragon Age Sale, maybe one Star Wars?, and one for Mass Effect. There were more I know, but I really don't want to waste time to check the store by myself each day.

Besides that: The price policy of bioware games is highly questionable.

@TheOrangeProject:

I think the deciding factor is that Steam is a multi-publisher platform. They don't aim to be exclusive, and as a result I have Steam open almost every day if I want to play some game or the other, or even if I want to browse for games I don't know, while I never have Origin open unless I want to play an EA game specifically, and never to browse.

Funny-- the current sale is impossible to miss. Looks like all DAI DLCs are 2/3, with the GotY at $30 instead of $40.

I'm with Ieldra -- I think this is an artifact of EA not having many sales and people not using Origin as often. I don't know what EA's supposed to do about the latter, and obviously they can't inform you of sales that don't exist.

There's a sale on now for anyone who's interested. DAI DLCs are USD 9.99.

ETA:  Rosemusk beat me to this while I was was dithering around with capturing the screen, saving it, uploading it, blah blah.  Apologies.

I am kind of chuckling to myself right now because, this very moment, I just opened origin and this was the splash screen that greeted me.

Star Wars Battlefront, 50% off, among others.
