d20 Modern, anybody? Just trying a few modern industrial-themed conversions to get a feel for what they look like. There's plenty more around; decent quality modern-style models are a lot easier to find. I'm not sure what they would be useful for though. Maybe a time travel portal?

Crates, buckets and pallets are good.

I could have used that steel box for a SOAR area. Still can in fact.

Shapes that can be retextured are a good call any time.

Maybe a time travel portal?

In Divinity OS you stumble upon an NPC who came from the future and talks about cars and stuff. So on the humor aspect of a module, I can see this working :).

I thought that modern D20 was a NWN1 pack only. Is it workable? I might use some of this.

I'm currently using Amraphel's placeables, some modern stuff in there, and BCK Eberron architecture for the 16 Cygni's sequel.

BTW, time travel portal is 16 Cygni's trademark :D.

d20 Modern is an official world setting for the d20 system, not something unique to NWN1.  http://www.wizards.c...20/article/msrd

I remember some group announcing a retro-futuristic style mod (it never went anywhere, but they did have some screens), and there have been a few futuristic pws, such as the Alien one (there was even one that got up and running).

Some of the mechanical stuff I could see being used in Mechanus or Sigil (or gnomish artificing or Eberron?). Some of the things like the orange traffic barrel or stop sign I guess would work with a plane travelling wizard or as some sort of easter egg like the Fallout crashed ufo, maybe, but they would be too anachronistic for me to use personally. The traffic signage/barrel and oddly, the garbage bins, are the things that seem the most anachronistic to me.

As you can call 16 Cygni and its sequel futuristic retro mods, I definitely coud use it. Are you going to upload it rjshae?

Though not definitive, two loading screens for the incoming sequel, modern places made with BCK Eberron :

BTW : JPEG format seems to be rejected when I try to insert an image, which format should I use?

I use .jpg myself. Maybe the forums do not like livedrive?

There was also the Fallout d20 mod, and I believe that was shut down by Bethesda because the files in the haks were largely ripped from Fallout 3.

I think I know the retro-futuristic mod post you're talking about.  Some very nice screenshots, but I don't know if it was actually a module in progress, a proof of concept, or even an area design portfolio piece.  Not much was said about it.

I've always wanted to play something that used those Eberron placeables!  Looks interesting.  As for the images, I know Dropbox redirects calls to my JPEGs that I place in the "Photos" folder to actually show a web page with the JPEG embedded instead, which means the URL doesn't link to an actual image, and thus it would not show on the forum.  I have to place the images into a non-image folder for it not to use that interfering treatment.  OneDrive may be the same.  Here's a test:

Can others see this?

Yes I do. Well done Tchos.

As for me whenever I copy the url of an image (not of the folder) I get 'You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community' when I post.

Nevermind. People now can see one image thanks to Tchos and the other thru the inital link :P .

Well I hadn't planned on releasing it in the current state, but here's a copy if you want to use it. Feel free. It's only 43 parts thus far.

Downloaded! Thanks.

As I'm starting the 3rd module, which takes place in modern times, the timing is perfect.  Can't wait for the release of course.

Yes, I'm sorry it's not really the topic here, but I did it by viewing one of the images you posted, and clicking the "View Original" link at the top of it, and copying the URL that resulted, pasting that into the forum here.  Hope that helps for the future.

With enough of those props, I'm sure you could create a halfway-decent 'tribal' post-apocalyptica in NWN2. Have characters wear the hide outfits, use mohawks and some of the stranger weapons like the fighting claws, maybe the cowboy revolver for a rare weapon...the Sunken Ruins tileset would function pretty well as a bunker without much needing changing.

That said, I do wish there was a game out there with a really straightforward toolkit for modern and sci-fi adventures. (Without being as heavily branded as, say, Shadowrun Returns)

NWN1 D20 Modern is a really courageous effort, but it has a few too many problems for me to be able to work with, mostly just because of NWN1 itself: trying to use the big blank square rooms and a variety of small, varied-in-quality props to try and create, for example, an ordinary kitchen is just a horrible drawn-out ordeal. The mod's default portraits are snatched from all over and wildly inconsistent to the point of being unusable. Etc.

True.

Perhaps the plus side of a d20 Modern is that it wouldn't need many new monsters added. Maybe a few more dogs, cats, and birds. Possibly some safari animals (elephants, rhinos, and hippos) depending on the setting. But the costumes, gear, and icons would need a complete replacement set, not to mention the 2-3 new tilesets (home, office, factory) and 500-1,000 placeables it would require, along with vehicles, weapons, hair styles, classes, perks, and skills. It's do-able, but it would take a long term commitment just to reach the point where it is usable as a stand-alone package.

For now I'm just going to dink around doing what I enjoy: creating and/or porting placeables. It sounds like there may be a few uses for them, and perhaps it will encourage some creativity. :)

I think what you're doing is awesome! If I ever get around to it, the last module of the Queen of the Spiders campaign is Queen of the Demonweb Pits, and the last area is Lolth's spider shaped space ship. I've often pondered how I was going to pull it off, if I got that far. These placeables will fit right in.

Thanks Bob!

There's a starship interior tileset for NWN, but I have no idea how good that would look in NWN2. The texture probably wouldn't be very detailed.

I have a metal wall texture set for Shadow Fortress, standard castle and standard interior you can have when you get to it.

IIRC, Kamal's tileset project includes a Mechanus tileset that would be suitable for a spacecraft interior. At least for a rust-bucket space freighter interior. It's just... incomplete. Some combination doorway tiles are missing, for example.

The Mechanus tileset has 18-19 tiles of the standard tileset (the standard tileset includes 42 base tiles iirc). That makes it a viable option, but one you definitely have to build around, there are no stairs in it for instance. It does have six metatiles, including a large round arena that would probably work well for Lolth's lair, which I remember being round.

The other drawback is that the curved walls tend to obstruct the camera at the doorways, so it might not work well for combat encounters. But the tileset does look pretty cool.

A powerful editor such as NWN2 toolset on top of  a Jagged Alliance 2 like world, with its still unmatched turn based combat, its mercenaries, its weapons collection and a modern 3D engine, just my dream :D.

I have a metal wall texture set for Shadow Fortress, standard castle and standard interior you can have when you get to it.

I mainly use Standard Interior - Floor 06, Wall 08 to simulate starship, space station, or modern warehouse interiors. Floor 06 gives a metallic flavor, and Wall 08 with '2G' inscriptions, a kind of military look. For modern 'retro style' interiors, the estate tileset is rather workable.

However any workable enhancement from you, Kamal or other skilled people would be welcomed for the 16 Cygni's sequel.

BTW if I can replace computer workstations made of rescaled mirrors and books to simulate screen, keyboard and mouse, that would be really great ;).
