Then these days it can even be a bit of challenge to find a pug game with people that even can handle regular platinum (or even gold), so increasing the difficulty level for public games might not always be the best idea....

I understand why people want to mod the game to increase the difficulty level (even platinum becomes a bit to easy for a team of highly experienced players with max URs and consumables). I'm totally fine with it as long as the host announce it before the game starts, but most hosts don't.

I would rather disagree on that one - on the premise that the
Modders should make PC totally unplayable - then the consoles get more players where the playing is more fair and results are more aligned with skills and less on configs.

Why would I buy a console, when I can just play another game on PC?

You'll need a time machine to over 3 years ago mate to have this report mean anything.
I'll get right on it.

The problem is, if you announce it, then 80% of the folks bail immediately. And it's taking long enough to find anyone decent that can actually play trough vanilla platinum as it is. And I don't have all day to wait for my lobby to fill. Even with that, I always, always try to get at least one person from my friendlist that still plays the game to join up before I start a public game, so we have some at least guaranteed carry. So if I see people with good loadouts joining, I start the game without saying a thing (and one vote kick the bad loadouts), since it's not that much different, it's just a lot harder. ![]()
If there would be enough traffic and plenty of people coming in and out, I'd gladly announce it's modded but actually saying it right now is almost decreasing your chance of getting a full lobby and starting the game to zero.
