Hello! I've never found out if it's a bug or part of mechanic, but... I was about to fight Lorne and my PC was dual-wielding Ranger. I tried once and I've lost and I was like "Nope!". I had limited option, so I used Casavir. He was well equiped, part of my crew. So duel starts and... oh man, easy peasy! Lorne did ZERO damage to Casavir. Z. E. R. O!

What was that? Bug? Special feat? I wasn't even using any abilities when fight began. I've always thought it was because he was wearing (greater?) cloak of protection vs. evil (and Lorne was evil). Anyone? Is it possible to repeat? Not that I want to, ofc (:P).

I didn't do it with Casavir, but I tried with my poor druid a few times, and once with Qara before trying Khelgar, and he defeated Lorne thoroughly, possibly without taking any damage like your experience with Casavir.  If there was any damage to Khelgar, it was lost in the tall column of numbers of damage that he was doing to Lorne, with all of the extra attacks he had at that point (especially as a monk).

First play through it took my rogue three tries to beat Lorne.
#2 Arcane Archer got him on the first try with a few bruises.
#3 Favored Soul slapped him silly.

Have Sand craft good gear for the your PC and one or two buffs should put you in the zone.

I recently beat him with my monk and he did not touch me. Too easy.

First time I fought Lorne too, I used a ranger and lost. Back then, I didn't understand his cheating mechanics. The only thing about Lorne is, it's important to understand his Frenzy makes him invulnerable against any damage (which doesn't make sense, really). He has very low ST and dexterity, thus it's easy to disable him when he's in Frenzy mode.

Well you don't need to cheat, you just have to understand the game mechanics. My first play-through, I'd never even read the D&D 3.5 rules. Live and learn.

No, I didn't cheat. I mean it was Lorne who cheated. There is no where said you can be invulnerable vs everything in Frenzy mode like he got. Even if I made a Frenzied Berserker myself, that kind of thing doesn't happen to my character.

We can understand game mechanics only if such mechanics is written/stated anywhere in the game, or generally used by every characters without exception. If such mechanics is used by only one character in only one particular encounter, well..., that's more like a cheat to me (especially if you didn't get prior warning to this).

Correct, Lorne's frenzy is not a frenzy that's available to any player class, and I don't think there was anything in the NWN2 manual that explained why he had that invulnerability or warned about it.

Not in NWN2, but in PnP, I think you can't die while you're in a frenzy (with some exceptions). I don't remember if this is exactly what Lorne has.

I'll let this video explain it in detail:

Heh, I see.  Complete Warrior, page 34, Deathless Frenzy, available at level 4.  Continue to fight normally regardless of HP until the frenzy ends, and only then feel the effects of the injuries, except in the case of "massive damage" (no doubt caused by someone attacking their weak spots), or instant death spells.

Yeah, in PnP, there's that rule about Frenzied Berserker, though I always wonder what exactly they meant with "massive damage" after all. I remember playing with someone and he argued his Berserker should take thousands of damage....which I thought like, stretching the rule too far.

And those damages taken at Frenzy mode didn't actually gone, they're just delayed until the Frenzy expired. Even according to PnP, Lorne shouldn't be able to make his last evil speech....He should immediately turned into powder or something...ha ha.

Which is about the opposite of its NWN2 version, where you simply get a Death Ward effect instead - immunity to death spells, negative damage, level/ability drain, etc.
