Oh that's gonna happen anyway.
BioWare is going to listen to their fanbase and it's going to be garbage.
not if we ask for the right things that improve the game not for something that has no place in it.

I honestly didn't have a problem with the "Spacebar does everything" schtick.
Granted, I'm a "mouse-n-keyboard" when it comes to Mass Effect, so maybe it's a controller thing.
But for me it was very intuitive and it felt very ergonomic. If I'm sprinting I'm holding down space; if I continue holding it down towards cover, I take cover; if I double-tap, I vault and keep going. It just clicked for me (pun semi-intended).
I do agree with the idea of a bit more movement-freedom. Being able to jump in Dragon Age: Inquisition was many a life-saver, since I didn't have to get trapped by a broken chair or a small pile of bricks when fighting Pride and Despair demons.
That said, I don't want the next Mass Effect to homogenize with more "open-world" games like Skyrim of some such. Regardless of how you feel about Inquisition, the ability to jump is VERY helpful in gameplay terms, but BioWare games are played for their story more than raw mechanics. (I still like the mechanics, but the story takes precedence).
BioWare narratives favor a landscape of semi-linearity rather than raw, open-world; because it provides greater focus on said narrative. But being able to jump wouldn't compromise that.
And this is one of the main reasons why I'm a big fan of Bioware's games
Whether you like Resident Evil 6 or not, the control scheme was THE BEST EVER.
Bioware needs to look at how much freedom and control we had in RE6, it was AWESOME.
I meant that it wasn't a universally held opinion that Inquisition was horrible.Never said it was for there is never a universally held opinion, but there were plenty of people that were saying that Dragon Age needed to be more like Skyrim and that is what we got. I personally much rather BioWare just make their game and not try and clone another game because that is what a few people on a message board said.
Anyone with a shred of distinction, is not ok with that. It's terrible design for M&K. My guess is you don't play action titles, and you definitely don't play them online.
That wasn't necessary.
But you're correct, I don't play online, because I don't need to deal with such insolence from people like you.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
scum!!!!!Warder is EuroTrash.
exactly. I wouldn't mind if the protag has acrobatic skills like the N7 slayer but one can dream.
Then you agree!? SP is all drama. Just put something out and focus on the MP Bioware! You have obviously played MP. That mode and that style of play can really improve the series as a whole. It can even be expanded upon to raise the bar of shooters in the industry.
Don't get mad at me. You just admitted it! We are brothers. I play the N7 slayer sometimes too! Even if I just mostly Biotic Slash.
Try doing qte,s with a handicap, thalk about joy
Exactly why I'm not a huge fan of them I have a handicap as I'm only able to use 1 hand on the controls. I get by by using god cheats and stuff like that through the moer awkward stuff on TR unfortunately I'm not so great with QTE's but I can most of the time just about manage on TR. With ME and DA the only time I ever use a cheat is with the geth cannon on the Overlord DLC. Aside from that very small section I can get through the games without cheating although having said that I do play on casual again because of my disability. But generally I like my games to be fun and make me think rather than frustrate me because (which Bioware's games generally do) although I do like the Tomb Raider games in general those QTE's do frustrate me.
I meant that it wasn't a universally held opinion that Inquisition was horrible.
It's my favourite CRPG is over a decade.
Very true DAI is my personal favourite of the DA games although I'm a huge fan of all 3
That is the problem right there. They focus in narrative and character development than gameplay and that's not good, it could go only so far and it's only a matter of time it begins to lose substance because of it. They should put their focus on all elements of gameplay not just the story itself.I honestly didn't have a problem with the "Spacebar does everything" schtick.

That's the problem with vague terms like "substance". You two disagree about what the substantive part of the game is.Dude, what? RE6 offered as much freedom as a straight line.
...they should focus less on substance, otherwise they'll lose substance?

Mo cap is a huge factor to keep in mind in terms of gameplay smoothness. I wish Bioware gives it the attention it deserves, because it would definitely boost up the overall experience.
Now talking about actual gameplay style. I think the combat system that suited me the better was ME2's; it was simple but effective. However, we all know Bioware has been emphasizing the term "exploration" a lot, and taking into account their previous statements about keeping ME3's foundation and expanding it, I assume they will try to addapt a very lineal combat style to an open-world like perspective.
Judging from the jet pack in the trailer, maybe we'll see an Advanced Warfare type of thing, switching from platform exploration to running/driving across the map. That point alone may change dramatically our perception of the world around us and, if they make a good use of it, it'd take combat to a whole new level.
Sincerely, I am not a fan of the omni sword type of melee (I'd prefer it to vary depending on the class we choose), but Bioware liked it, so yeah.. there it is.
The dialogue wheel is still useful, in my opinion. They should obviously make some adjustements just to make it more variable and immersive, instead of choosing among predictable paragon - renegade - investigate options. Adding a bit more freedom to end a conversation abruptly would be nice too.
This is probably not going to be a popular suggestion, but I would like the ability to directly control my squadmates during combat. ...
Yea, that's what the squad command evo on the juggernaut in MP should have been like!

Like Sylvius suggests, the word "substance" starts to lose meaning in arguments like this, but I don't think that this makes any sense. Whether or not the writers put more effort into the characters and narrative doesn't really determine whether or not the combat is decent, but the characters and narrative are the main reasons anyone gives a damn about Mass Effect in the first place.

Yeah ME2 and ME3 were fine combat wise I felt. Given Bioware's idea of going exploring I'd imagin ecombat wil take a little bi moer of a back seat but only time will tell I guess
I believe they should focus on gameplay just as much as the story and characters that way players can enjoy both.Like Sylvius suggests, the word "substance" starts to lose meaning in arguments like this, but I don't think that this makes any sense. It seems like with every new thread that is created....the fans of Mass Effect want a new Mass Effect, but as long as it's not Mass Effect.
-Change the gameplay
-Change the romance
-Change the "hero" protagonist
-Change the races
Know what I mean?
Devs said that drawing and holstering went away because the old consoles couldn't handle loading both combat and noncombat animation sets simultaneously -- it worked in ME1 because there weren't as many animations. Since the old consoles are gone, there's no reason this limitation can't go away too.
Having that 0-100 moment where things go sideways is much more exciting than "exchange dialog, someone gets angry, screen goes black for a second, combat begins with combatants behind waist-high boxes that they were standing 6 feet away from a second ago." I really hope they have gone out of their way to bring back the seamless flow.
Except that the calculation will still be the same: are these animations worth more than the other thing we could include instead.Devs said that drawing and holstering went away because the old consoles couldn't handle loading both combat and noncombat animation sets simultaneously -- it worked in ME1 because there weren't as many animations.
