I believe they should focus on gameplay just as much as the story and characters that way players can enjoy both.

And by gameplay, you mean just the combat, yes? I would argue that any menu or prompt that requires you to select from a list of actions or dialogue is all part of the gameplay, so I consider even sequences where you decide what your character is saying to be just as important to the franchise, if not more so, than the gunplay/power portion of the game. But again, I don't see how one is supposed to affect the other. Like, if the writers put more effort in the story, how is that supposed to affect the quality of the combat?

It's balance that they lack they have good storytelling and characters but shitty gameplay, world design, and crappy animations. They should work on those weak points especially Dragon Age. Now ME3 gameplay has a good foundation for them to start creating better gameplay by revamping and add new features, if I were them I have people who is the master of animations, level design, combat, and open world to make Mass Effect a high quality well balanced game.

But one has nothing to do with the other. The staff aren't splitting their time between crafting narrative and tweaking combat physics.

not if we ask for the right things that improve the game not for something that has no place in it.

there's a reason that a good majority of the fans don't work in the video game industry.

That reason is that they wouldn't know a good idea if it bit them in their naughty bits.

Devs said that drawing and holstering went away because the old consoles couldn't handle loading both combat and noncombat animation sets simultaneously -- it worked in ME1 because there weren't as many animations. Since the old consoles are gone, there's no reason this limitation can't go away too.

Never understood that - why not just scrap a load of the idling animations then to free up enough memory space? I don't really need to see Shep stretch her neck in 4 different ways.

Are you telling me that the neck stretches don't appeal to everyone?

Blasphemy.

You're not just loading the draw/holster animation, you're loading every single aim/shoot/idle animation for every weapon (on both the player and the weapon) you have as well as their associated particle effects. That's a lot more than a just few looping idle animations.
