Doesn't matter. Still nasty. Just look at a batarian. Face looks like an @$$#0le.

*Points to Garrus, Tali and Thane*

We've dated a bird-raptor who's bones actually have metal in them, a girl with a bucket on her head and a bad immune system, and a terminally ill reptilian who's kiss is mildly hallucinogenic... letting us romance a bald chick with four eyes and pointy teeth isn't that weird, all things considered?

They're fine. We are talking about batarian women.

That would be pretty awesome, she could be a hard liner like Admiral Cain from BSG.

Considering that the project is likely aiming to save/propagate as many sentient Milky Way species as it can, then there's a golden opportunity for members of less centric races (Elcor, Volus, Rachni, Hanar, Krell, Batarians... Keepers, Vorcha... Leviathans?...) to play a far more prominent role, even if they aren't available as squad-mates.  ^_^

If we're allying with some underdog indigenous race (against the Khet?), then I'd also like to see a member of their species join the team (with some kind of hailback to the indigenous trackers adopted by European colonists).

  • Perhaps a local scout, paramilitant or guerrilla, with in-depth knowledge of the Khet and a history of personal loss at their hands.

Some familiar characters from the previous trilogy who might have been selected for the expedition as advisors or representatives of their species.

  • The most likely candidates (based on longevity) would be Asari or Krogan, although descendants of other characters could be a possibility.
  • If cryostasis or life extension were involved then — depending on when the project departed  almost anyone could make an appearance.

Which is an odd argument, because we've seen and been able to romance a lot stranger looking aliens in the series, so what makes Batarians so disgusting? Especially when we have yet to see any examples of female Batarians in the games with which we can judge their levels of attractiveness?

(Also I forgot to mention the blue space babes with tentacle hair, as another strange and wonderful alien we were able to romance)

To quote that race-card carrying Turian... "You humans are all racist!"

It'd be funny if female batarians basically have the same exact voices and no discernible sexual dimorphism.

The species I feel was under-represented and deserved a spot, batarians, aren't going to be in this game. So I doubt I could have a squad mate like that. So, I might as well just settle for the tropes getting fulfilled instead.

What I would like is if we could get a person from our enemies side to join up with us. Just have a badass villain with a sense of honor, make our journey a joint story in which this character gets redeemed, and then have them join our crew halfway or 3/4 way through the campaign. Just a good guy who ended up on the wrong side of this conflict, and who could shed some light on the new galaxy and society therein.

I don't get this whole female = boobs. Really. It's possible to create females for different species without resorting to this, while keeping them distinctive (if needed).

It'd be funny if female batarians basically have the same exact voices and no discernible sexual dimorphism.

And then it would turn out that we met female batarian in original trilogy. We just didn't know it.

Of all the contrivances and concessions Bioware make that require suspension of disbelief, boobs are the bottom of the list.

Especially for potential LIs; if they're supposed be attractive after all, they need to be heavily anthropomorphised. I mean, how many other species here on Earth (let alone the galaxy) do you find sexually attractive? Not even our closest extant relatives I'll wager.

Why everything has to come down to romance?  I'm seriously curious.
