Just finished Trespasser and noticed that when I walked around the Winter palace grounds, the two binocular devices showed me an area of the sky where a bright green glowing ribbon of light floats around. I'm sure this was intentional, but the story doesn't account for this. I originally thought this would lead to the final boss or something, but maybe I just didn't understand what was meant.

I would be interested in thoughts, theories?

It's the scar left in the sky from the Breach. Don't look into it too much.

Yes, but Haven is far to the south of the castle, isn't it?

I went through the DLC waiting for it to open up and send me back to the Fade or something. The developers drew attention to it, I guess.  I have an idea that the story for Trespasser may have changed more than once during development, who knows? I understand one of the main writers for the story left while it was being made.

The Breach was absolutely massive. They established that it could be seen from dozens to even hundreds of miles away.

I think they just wanted that visible representation of the breach. Seriously, don't look into it.

DLC stories always change during development, and Trespasser is no different in that regard. The former lead writer for DA had moved on to another project in BioWare when Trespasser was written, but came back to write his characters. Patrick Weekes, the new lead writer for DA, took the helm with Trespasser.

Don't worry, I checked it out... it's safe. ;)

:)

gotta love those glitches. Seriously, 380 hours of gameplay and 100 plus (or more) was spent on glitches. Fun!

Probably not if the hints are actual hints and we leave the South.

And it could be that the second Breach that Corypheus made at the end of the game was even larger than the first before it was sealed. I do recall there being a line during the battle that it was growing rapidly and far more out of control than the first one, if I'm remembering correctly?

Yes, it was Morrigan's line to try and increase the sense of tension and doom; which fell a bit flat considering everyone was making plans about what they were going to do next even before we confronted Corypheus the last time.   I think it was said to try and emphasise that you couldn't wait around for your troops to return from the Arbor Wilds.

The epilogue slides to the main game show one with the after burn scar in the sky, so really that one you can see from Halamshiral is just consistent with that.   Initially I kept staring at it through the telescope in case it was important but I think it was just for effect.

Which is odd, because it doesn't look nearly that big in Haven or even directly under it.

I've just checked and Morrigan also says in the epilogue "We are now left with a scar in the sky to remind us of what almost was."   You'd think with that reminder there the members of the Exalted Council might be just a tad less hostile towards us.

That, and the qunari plan that would have turned them all to ash (and every other leader in Thedas) if not for the Inquisition... again. But oh well.
