I didn't know Smite was for xbone. I thought it was a computer MMO. Even started downloading it on my laptop out of curiosity. Gonna try to get it on xboxe instead, my poor computer cries for death when I just run DAO so I doubt it can handle a new game or a combat heavy one.

Let me know if you get it downloaded and you'd like to match up sometime. I think I'll be enjoying this one for a while.

If the internet gods are kind to me I should be able to get it downloaded and mess around with it for a bit tomorrow. Living out in rural areas kind of suck for downloading anything^^;

Well not yet I don't. I'm at 20% installed still. Though MMOs and me don't get on well usually^^;

Lol, the player base does seem terrible. Or is it the game itself that's embarrassing?

Got it downloaded and gave my xbox some time to rest but with my rural connection I think I'm better off waiting until I move before I play it. Last time I tried anything online with someone I ended up with teleporting brutes.

I bought the ME trilogy during Origin's spring sale. Finally going to give it a go. I really know nothing at all about the series except that it's a space RPG. I also absorbed some of the ME3 ending controversy.

At the outset, I'm rather torn over whether to play a male or female Shepard. I don't usually base my PC decision on the romance options, especially for a first play, but I know that your same Shepard carries over across all three games, and also that the m/m romances are in ME3.

I prefer to romance guys generally. I don't really care what gender my PC is overall, but if I happen to really like say, Kaidan for example, I know I'll have to wait, rather than just making a new character as I did for Dorian. On the other hand, I may really like one of the straight guys. It is a quandary! I normally wouldn't give it this much thought, but the trilogy aspect is making me consider.

Maybe I just won't romance anyone for the first game, as I did with DAO's first play (I actually didn't know there were romances), and just absorb the universe and setting and get to know characters without that filter.

[edit]

I just remembered that Kaidan is bi, woopsie. But the rest of my point still stands. XD

If voice acting is a motivator for you, I'd strongly consider female Shepard. It's YMMV, of course, but in my opinion Jennifer Hale had a much more emotive delivery...at least until ME3, when Meer really seemed to step up his game.

Kaidan is my possibly my favorite LI in Bioware history, in terms of how much I appreciate the character, so it's no secret what I would be rooting for you to try.

In any case, I'm happy that you're giving the series a try.

^ Considering that I like the British male Inquisitor quite a bit, whereas other people found him bland and boring, I'm thinking that being a bit less emotive is more my style. (Well, I think he emotes fine, but that's just me.)

That's what I did in ME1 and 2. Yep, absorbing the universe. No pining going on whatsoever...

While Jennifer Hale had the more authoritative delivery that's more suitable for a commander, Mark Meer's version is just...hm, adorkable? It's goofy in an unintentional way that ended up being endearing to many people. (Just to balance the opinions :P )

I always thought MShep's voice acting was a little wooden board like but I also think that of the American accent female VA as well. Plus i have the bias of mostly wanting to roll ladies and extra bias of not being able to make decent looking MSheps or really liking how default MShep looks either. In short I have a lot of bias for playing as FShep

I'm a little disappointed that ME can't be modded without jumping through hoops. I'm not keen on using something like texmod and running the game through that, or making permanent changes with MEexplorer. I suppose NWN, DAO, and to a lesser extent DA2, were Bioware's sweet spot as far as modding is concerned.

Also, I love the elcor.

I should have come into this thread sooner. With this list, I'm leaving anything involving Final Fantasy out. I started a thread for that. :P

Dragon Quest IX

I've played several entries in the series, but this one is my favorite. The world itself is a puzzle and the end boss is pretty unexpected. If you like older-school JRPGs, I'd highly recommend it.

Saints Row the 4th
Who would have thought that flying around and beating things with THE purple bat (you know which one) could have been such a blast. It's good to be the President.

Diablo 2 and Diablo 3
The story of Sanctuary draws me in as much as the villains do. I really liked the combat, and playing co-op in D3 with the Sasquatch is a lot of fun. Shame about the always online component.

Warcraft 3
I'll be honest: I suck at RTS games. However, the story was compelling enough to make me grit my teeth and get through it. I'm glad I did.

Anticipation
This was a NES game largely forgotten about that came out in 1988. It was a board game combined with Connect the Dots. The faster you buzzed in, the more moves you got. It could handle up to 4 players and you just trade off controllers between turns. It was a bonding moment among my family during a rough time.

Here's an example of the gameplay. Start at 41 seconds.
Spoiler

Rampage, Arcade Version
Ah, nothing like smashing buildings for no other reason than to fight giant monsters and to destroy stuff. Good times.

There's more, but this post is long enough.

 If it helps, he's my favorite in ME as well. I love his personality and his sense of humor. To each their own though. ;P

My all time favorite LI is Valen Shadowbreath, from NWN: Hordes of the Underdark. You don't see many tieflings around that aren't completely off of their rocker or flat out evil. It's my favorite D&D race. Plus I have a thing for guys with long hair. ;)

 Well, at least you're honest about it. He is my favorite LI in Mass Effect as well, but I can't say I have the same level of..um...passion that you seem to. :P

Haha! I think I only seem passionate because he's... literally the only reason I gave Mass Effect a chance. Nothing against the game, I'm just not much of a sci fi fan.

I love Valen. He was my very first video game LI, and he was written by Gaider so I think I have extra fluffy feelings for him. Dat voice. Hordes of the Underdark was amazing in general - I loved Nathyrra as a LI, too. And Aribeth despite her, uh, identity crisis.

Tieflings are a favorite of mine, too. It's a shame no one ever seemed to make a big deal out of demon-descended tieflings versus devil-descended tieflings. I thought the conflict between the Abyss and the Hells was waaay more interesting than Good versus Evil!

I've only ever played VIII: Journey of the Cursed King myself, but I really enjoyed that one. The series as a whole seems to have a wonderfully silly tone to everything, in a way that modern games usually don't. I especially appreciate the fact that main characters in the series inexplicably gets DBZ Super Saiyan hair upon reaching Super High Tension.

You're so good to put up with me, Lady A.

Let's adopt some adorable ginger cats and open a speakeasy in an abandoned church.

Agreed, except I'd like one of the cats to be a Turkish Angora.

That's what I would be if I were a cat.
