I think Bioware realy needs to learn how to do a good marketing. It's that bad. But then, I'm not disappointed, this is exactly what I expected. I'm fine with what we got, because I already knew that what was going to be shown would be hardly interesting compared to the promises made by the devs. Honestly, the first warning already came with the N7 day. I'm surprised that people had so high expectations wth the marketting. I have no doubts that the game will be good though.
So.. apparently we did get trailer that showed female protagonist. I'm pretty sure that this is "Ryder":

I wonder if she's like John Shepard/Marian Hawke- a default face for female protagonist or is she just possibility on how character could look with CC.
How unimaginative. I hope it's not the fem/ryder. She looks like Lara Croft. She is forgettable, and she will be easily forgotten. So Rise of Tomb Raider was popular, we had to get a female protagonist that looks close to a popular protagonist from another franchise ? She has just a good ponytail and her face has nothing iconic. Don't like her face, nothing stands out, but then the first maleshep we saw with M1 for the demo was absolutely generic, before they use something with Shelpoo, so wait and see.
I admit that I am relieved with the graphics, but at the same time, I think that should have been expected.
I don't understand how people think she even looks masculine. I think she looks quite young- mischievous and cute. I see her as Sera of ME:A personally rather than protagonist. But masculine? I don't get it.
They are right. She isn't attractive to me. And to be honest, she looks quite masculine. ( at the first glance ) If I didn't know that Asari are all female, i might have thought for a few seconds that it was male. I had some hesitation for one-two seconds. The fact that it happened in my mind, and that a lot of male players from what I read seem to think that she looks masculine, is quite telling me that I might not have been totally mistaken and wrong in my reaction before the trailer. There is no doubts to me that her face is quite androgyneous even if I could see a female. Like I said, it's only the first glance for a few seconds, and we should wait to see more.
Her design is interesting though.
Also, I'm quite tired of this oh she looks realistic argument that I see on the forum, it's way too overused. I find it insulting for women. As if they all looked very average or bad in real life except in porn or among the celebrities. I don't know how it is where people live, but where I live plenty of women, from 18 to 45 are really hot and good looking. I just have to walk on the streets or go at the mall to see plenty of them. Everyday, with my customers where I work, I see pretty girls. They are not all ugly or very average. It can be realistic to have hot women too.
I don't think that a female character has necessarily to look average or ugly, to be taken as " realistic " . I'd keep the current design, it doesn't bother me, but stop with the " she looks realistic at least, not like a barbie doll because she isn't that pretty. "
