The first Dishonored is among my all-time favorites and Dishonored 2's gameplay looks like an improvement in every way, but beyond that I'm also pretty pleased with some of the things Arkane is doing re:diversity. Like having both Emily and Corvo as playable protagonists with different power sets and story perspectives and adding female mooks and villains. There also seems to be some major non-white NPCs (also non-white VAs) and the creative director said the game has prominent LGBT characters. I can't wait for November 11.

Guess who finally got all of the DAI DLCs

CybE4nz.png

Lucky you. I so wish i could play Trespasser again for the first time, and same with The Descent. Awesome DLC's.

Still waiting for a price drop on Fo4's Far Harbour, gonna be awhile.

Maybe they'll do a drop for the Steam Summer sale, but probably not. Still something to look forward to, Far Harbour is in my opinion better than the base game. Which isn't unusual for Bethesda games.

I believe the developers have confirmed that Emily herself is a lesbian, or at least non-straight.

Although, I am extremely excited for Dishonored 2. I will be most definitely doing an Emily run through for my first time, partly because her story seems awesome and also because she has *new* powers that differ from Corvo, and they all look awesome.

I think I've read that they wouldn't confirm Emily's sexuality one way or the other. I'll definitely play her first too, for the same reasons.

I have Steam on my laptop but I mainly play on my consoles, I've only PC game the Sims, shamefur dispray I know ;D

So I started the Witcher 3 over the weekend, really really enjoying it. Granted I'm very confused by a lot of things, I will have to YouTube the other games to catch up. Currently just finished a long dungeon crawl (man that was tough) with Keira (liked her company). Lots of bewbs in this game also, reminds me to watch the new episode of GoT.

I need to save up money to buy Blood and Wine, so I can finally finish Witcher 3. Excellent game, though the fans are very annoying.

It's hillarious, for Battlefield 1, France and the Russian empire weren't planned in the vanilla game in the multiplayer. It's the first world war, do they even know their history ? I'm glad it created a polemic, it's a bit of an insult to history. That's like creating a multiplayer game with the second world war and not allowing people to pick the United States or the URSS. The main battles were in France, the biggest battle was Verdun the biggest lost were french and russians,, etc etc.

I can understand Dice having more preferences for stories that are unknown in the solo, but what that has anything to do with multiplayer ? Let players pick their country. It's also hillarious because the " triple -entente " was first constituated of France, Russia and England later against " the triple alliance "  But of course England had to be an option alongside the United States which only came to war in 1917, after three years of war when everyone was tired. But the option for the united States had to be there lol.

We are of course used to the americano-centrism with movies and video games, so it's not really a surprise, but it certainly displeased to a lot of players this time with battlefield. Plenty of folks are angry.

Not that I was planning on buying Battlefield 1 but I definitely found it annoying. And I imagine that the premium expansion won't be free, so the fact that the French will be added later on isn't much better.

Absolutely. It isn't much better. Honestly, I hope that the polemic won't stop there. I'd like the content to be free. Also, poor russians, they don't even have anything. This story kinda killed a bit my enthusiasm for this game. I'm fearing a bit the story mod in the solo now.

I hope that they won't try to make an hollywood story about the first world war, with the same americano-centrism we are used to...

I could have understood depending on the location they'd chosen, but they specifically chose to set one of their maps during the Battle of Amiens and not give the option to play as the French. And the Russians don't even get a DLC apparently.

A shame and stupid. The battle of Amiens was a Franco-British offensive before the battle of the Somme. It makes even less sense... Anyway it happens in France, so players should be able to pick it lol ?

Not sure what happened. I'd like to know the real story behind this choice, because it's weird. If it's again just french and russian bashing, it's a damn shame. History should never be rewritten.

The new Call of Duty, are there people interested ? I've seen really harsh notes on youtube with different videos of the trailer. i'm wondering what is happening, it's the first time that such thing happens. Because despite the negative comments on youtube, the note always was positive with the previous games as far as I remember. I think people don't like the idea of having a space call of duty.

I don't really get it either. The US was obviously added because the American video game market is the largest in the world, but France and Russia are among the largest as well. Certainly larger than countries like Austria and Hungary so it doesn't seem like it was a purely market driven decision.

I think I read the new CoD had the most disliked trailer in history. From what I can tell as someone who's not a big CoD fan (only played a bit of BLOPS 3 and Modern Warfare), a lot of the backlash came from the announcement that the Modern Warfare remaster wouldn't be included with the standard edition. And people didn't like the song in the trailer. But that doesn't seem enough to justify such a negative reaction.

Wow, it's almost up to 3 million dislikes.

From what I've read* it's a mix of things. There's the 4 remaster that is only available bundled. Most people wanted a current or past setting, that's why BF1 got such a positive response. I've seen the trailer and it just looks like a lot of different games, including No Man's Sky/Elite Dangerous for the flying part, Dead Space for the zero g part, some mech combat. The game tries to be million things at once and I'm not surprised people are dissatisfied.

And that Space Oddity cover was terrible. It felt like a cash grab and Bowie deserved better.

*Disclaimer: I've not played a single CoD game.

Well, I'm not a big fan of COD either. I was with the first modern warfare. it was one of the most realistic FPS game, with the most realistic atmosphere, with a really good story mod. It is all gone now. I also liked the first Black ops, even if a bit too hollywood in some parts. And finally modern warfare 2 because it had the best multiplayer at that time honestly. Only good moments. That's it. I stopped caring after that.

Not a fan of the futiristic background. Not because I don't like it, but only because I doubt that this franchise can handle that atmosphere very well. Also, I'm not feeling that space should be a part of CoD in its identity. I'd prefer them to come back to our time, meaning nowadays. Infortunately, too many possibilities to offend some countries, like it happened with Battlefield 4. I also feel the next game tries to be many things at the same time indeed.

I still remember the first mission of modern warfare 1. it was absolutely realistic. It gave me chills the first time. 8:00

Also for those who were fans of Link when they were child, the last game appeared in E3.

Open world seems to have spread everywhere. LOL

I would be cautious with Battlefield after the glitchy launch of Battlefield 4 and what happened to Hardline.

I just popped into the Cullen thread randomly and someone had posted this link concerning MEA romances.

E3 2016: Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda Will Be a More 'Natural Experience'

Sorry if y'all knew about this already. ^_^

[edit]

I will say that what he describes would be nice to see in DA as well. They're all the same: flirt, flirt, romance quest, special scene (maybe sex), some extra dialogue, and that's it.

Ignoring the Russian involvement in the World Wars is a pretty standard Western thing.

Dishonored is great, though I feel it would have worked a whole heap better if (an adult) Emily was the protagonist instead of Corvo. As is the protagonist is the least interesting character in it, despite the mask.

I'm pretty sure it plays exactly CoD regardless of which skin it's wearing. You're in a small area with things exploding and you shoot the bad guy directly in front of you not doing anything to avoid being shot.

Well he's also the only one who doesn't speak, so that probably played a part. I don't like silent protagonists when the other NPCs are voiced.

I'm hoping (perhaps naively) that it doesn't take Red Thread Games too much longer to release all of Dreamfall Chapters on PS4. I've been keeping up with the episode releases by watching a Let's Play. But the guy I've been watching had some kind of serious surgery lately, so understandably he's not going to be doing any videos for a while. That means a long wait for the final episode. It's been a long, long wait for that game on PS4. Though not as long a wait as Beyond Good and Evil 2 or Jade Empire 2.  :P

I'm pretty fussy about Let's Plays and there are so many tw*ts on Youtube, so there aren't any others I want to watch.

I can see how it won all the awards and garnered all the praise it has. I'm only at Novigrad now, helping out Triss and I'm thoroughly loving it! If I could grow a beard I'd have one manly Viking one right now. I had to look up vids about the older Witcher games and yep, Triss is gonna tear me apart, she's really sweet but Yen tho. What do?

Godlings are adorable also.

Edit: I still suck at Gwent.

I swear, Hearts of Iron 4 (WW2 strategy game) might just be the most complex game with the steepest learning curve I've ever tried to play.  Been playing as America since 1936 trying to just learn the ropes and thus far I'm not sure I've done anything right, and now I'm at war with the Axis.  Oh well gonna see how badly I mangle some Naval invasions in the Pacific and help the Brits with their air war while I build up supplies for an invasion army.

In September, there is going to be a remaster release of Bioshock, and Bioshock 2, and packaged in a collection along with Infinite.

Similar to the Skyrim remaster, if you already own Bioshock and Bioshock 2 on Steam, you will get the upgrades for free.

They are super cheap right now as part of the Steam summer sale, so I strongly encourage you to pick them up and take advantage of this deal. As for the Bioshock franchise in general, even as person that isn't too into shooters, I think it's a fantastic series with awesome world building, and I'd encourage everyone to give it a try just once.

Here is a link to the Steam announcement page with all the details.

Speaking of Shocks and remakes, there's a kickstarter on for a rebuild of System Shock in Unity.

I've never played it, but according to games history, the original System Shock being the progenitor of BioShock and Deus Ex, and arguably intelligent shooters and creeptastic female AIs.

I'm normally skeptical of the validity in remaking perfectly fine works, but at least this one is old enough there'll be a tangible leap in quality.

So 2016 is officially the year of the remasters. CoD, Dishonored, Skyrim, BioShock. And aside from one of those, they are being super chill about it. What's going on

But it goes without saying, if you haven't played BioShock, now is the time to pick it up. It's a brilliant series.
