Could some of the aliens in Andromeda be from the Milky Way?

That would be right up my alley. Sounds like a possible evolution of some of ME1's exploration, where we find alien ruins or come across the remains of long dead explorers. I loved that. It added so much atmosphere to the setting. I don't need a long drawn out explaination as to what happened to them or how they met their fate. Some mystery is always welcome. But if we came across a data log of some sort, confirming that this species fled the Milky Way and made it to Andromeda, but ultimately met a grim end which we are left to speculate about, that'd be nice.

That was one of the things I loved in ME1. These little minor mysteries, mysteries that had no real explanation and no solid conclusion beyond 'you have this now,' gave the galaxy a more lived in feeling, a sense more that there had been all these civilizations before humanity showed up. It really made the galaxy feel like it was a larger place because of it.

Ok, serious answer.

First of all, no species (!) of the current cycle could have gone there before us. No, not even the Rachni. They were wiped out to extinction (twice) and only survived because of some freak chance. Do we really want to add even more implausible stuff for them?

Secondly, Protheans again would be lame. We'd constantly compare them with Javik... and they'd fall short, because Javik is ****** awesome.

So if this happened, then it happened several cycles ago, with a species we never heard of, of which we know nothing and that left nothing behind in the Milky Way.

What would be the point? We go to Andromeda, we meet exotic aliens. What difference does it make where those aliens originally came from? They are aliens either way. Seeing that they would have been in Andromeda for countless generations, they would have no connection to the Milky Way anymore. Or do we want some alien sage tell us the myths and legends of a blue planet, third from its sun, that used to be a holiday resort for their civilisation back in the old days? They visited with their families, because the cute monkeys there were so clever and playful.

Agreed on the wholly new aliens part. If we are going to stumble across the Zorgalons in Andromeda it doesn't really matter if they were originally from the Milky Way or not, they're new aliens. I think what the OP was going more towards though was aliens we have knowledge of making the trip, though I could be misreading it.

If we are going with the stipulation that we will run into an alien species from the Milky Way that we have had foreknowledge of, then I still say that the Rachni would be the most likely to fit that description; at least of any of the organic species. While the Protheans were busy being wiped out, the Rachni were hiding out, and once the Reapers retreated back into dark space they had the rule of the roost. Who's to say they didn't organize one-way colonization efforts to other galaxies in the Local Group to avoid complete and total extinction? Plus, I would much rather run into the Rachni again in Andromeda, and get the exploration of them that we were robbed of in the previous trilogy, than to encounter Andromeda's cheap knock off version of them; because let's be honest, the Rachni were one of the best takes on the insectoid alien trope, and anything similar will just feel like a second rate copy.

Speaking of which, I really hope that we don't have "Not" versions of various Milky Way species in Andromeda, I mean if you are just going to give us the "Not" Rachni I would much rather we just get the originals. For example, the Keht in the (supposed) leak sound very close to being the "Not" Batarians of Andromeda.

You will see familiar versions of aliens because BioWare loves tropes and stereotypes. Maybe they'll mix and match things a bit differently this time around but I wouldn't be surprised if the new species were similiar to the old ones.

I GUARANTEE all of the aliens in the Milky Way will be represented in the MP.  I guarantee it.

Because SP is all drama.  Just put something out and focus on the MP Bioware.

It's possible. One of the reasons that the cycles were encouraged was to coax technology to be on the same path. But it's not a foolproof method - a species could evolve in a non-Relay system (like the elcor did)

Could you point me to that entry?  I don't recall reading that information anywhere...

They're all going to be species from the milky way, say for like 1 or 2 new aliens. Why? Because it saves a couple million to recycle old character models then it does to create new ones.

Javik was such a bad ass, I wouldn't put it past Bioware to have us arrive in Andromeda only to find that the Protheans aren't extinct, but thriving.

Which would be awesome.

Fixed in the name of the Prothean Empire! May all the primitives of the universe grovel before our feet!

I didn't even know what you edited at first lol

It'd be absolutely awful if they did that though. Belittles the epicness that was Javik.

We do a fly-by of Dekuuna, the elcor homeworld, in ME3. It's in the Phontes System of the Silean Nebula. The Relay for the Silean Nebula is in the Kypladon System.

Well, I always thought it could be a possibility. I suspect the Remnant may be one, but...who knows.  Personally, I think it would be interesting.
