I know there are magic attacks which give electric, cold, spirit, nature, and fire damage as well as physical. How do you know the type of attack to which the enemy is susceptible, as well as the type of attack he is using? i dont see it listed anywhere.

Here you go, two lists for resistances. With their powers combined the must be correct. 

 

No idea how to find out a list of which type their attacks are. I know that Saarebas use electricity and Arcane Horrors do spirit damage. Spiders and their long legged cousins use nature damage. Dragons use fire. I think the profane do as well. I also think the damage color tells you what they are dealing. Red for fire, green for nature, blue for spirit and purple for electricity. Doesn't help you plan, but if you feel like noting it down it might help. 

I am full of lies sadly. But I think spirit damage sometimes shows up as purple numbers. And the damage I said is the visual effect the enemies attacks are. I have no idea if the damage is actually that element.
