Just wrapped up "Moonshadows - Chapter 1"

Too bad there wasn't a chapter 2, the author did some very good work there.

Haven't decided what to play next.

Just wrapped up "Moonshadows - Chapter 1"

I can't remember if I have played that one, I'll get it next.

Anyhow, Ashley put on quite a show for the Dwarfs at the tavern, & woke up with quite a hangover & little memory.
Spoiler

With the Demon taken care of, a little shopping, and making a deal to help the Dwarfs, it was time to say goodbye to Sister Multus and let her finish her quest. We then boarded the boat to the city....

Well, I didn't literally play them today, but the ones that I have currently installed to play (not counting the ones I have installed for testing) are Trinity, The Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, Dark Waters (chapter 3), The Last of the Dana'an, Wulverheim, and ZORK: Rediscovering the Great Underground Empire.

I just finished A Hunt through the Dark Remastered and I really liked it. Now I'm playing Lolthanchwi.

We made it to the city and a Goblin gave us a rundown of the place.
Spoiler

With the cemetary problem dealt with, we had managed to get the last of the ingrediants for Fern's Dwarven love potion, so it is time to head back to see the thief...

(Early on in the module I picked up a "stone key". It's still in my inventory, anybody know what it was for?)

Dragonglade, not bad but a bit of a Monty Hall making the fights fairly easy.

Edit: Brief critique and comments left on the Vault.

The thief had already nabbed the birth certificate by the time we got back, so we took it over to the Doctor & got it signed.
Back at the Blind Cyclops Tavern, Sean said the Tunnel was ready & to go and see Madame Dora in the Church district.
Spoiler

I nearly missed the Dryad merchant who was standing in the pond.
She invited us to undress and join her, which was odd, as she was fully clothed herself.
I was up for it, but Ashley thought we had more pressing matters...

The thief had already nabbed the birth certificate by the time we got back, so we took it over to the Doctor & got it signed.
Back at the Blind Cyclops Tavern, Sean said the Tunnel was ready & to go and see Madame Dora in the Church district.

Fern thought it would go badly for her fellow Nymphs, if she was seen to be caught up in the plot.
So we said our goodbyes.

  • So Ashley and I went to the Church district, and Madame Dora's.
  •
  • The Madame showed us to the secret tunnel under the brothel.
  •
  • Where we met Noric, who turned out to be Prince Noric.
  •
  • We had to do a bit of crawling, with Ashley keeping an eye on things.
  •
  • Then fight a few of the Kings guards
  •
  • Before killing the King.
  •
  • Then some usurper showed up to claim Ashley's throne
  •
  • And I woke up in a cell.
  •
  • Just as all seemed lost, Fern came to the rescue (in the most Nymphy way possible)
  • But the rescue was not without cost.
  •
  • Then out of the blue, or brownish, grey, the Fairy Queen showed up & claimed to be Ashley's real mother.
  • Well blow me down with a feather. She couldn't save Fern, or rather chose not to.
  • Nor could she spirit us away
  •
  • So we had to escape through the sewers (In my best robe.)
  •
  • Of course there were creatures in the sewers that wanted to kill us.
  •
  • But we eventually made it through the dark tunnels
  •
  • And to the beach
  •
  • Where a boat was waiting to take us to Batini, to meet with the wise woman.
  •
  • The Batini locals took an instant dislike to us.
  •
  • Now that's gotta hurt.
  •
  • More of them in the cave.
  •
  • Circle kick
  •
  • What, more of them, if I'd known there was this many I wouldn't have come down here.
  •
  • We eventually made it to the village.
  •
  • Where the wise woman turned out to be another ex Covern Witch.
  • She told us to seek out the Dragons.

I nearly missed the Dryad merchant who was standing in the pond.
She invited us to undress and join her, which was odd, as she was fully clothed herself.
I was up for it, but Ashley thought we had more pressing matters...

I commented on the plot problems on the old vault but it was still a fun adventure. One of the few times I've had fun playing a regular heavy fighter. I can easily see this being a good module for a monk PC. If you like this you will love Tsongo's "Bad Habits", probably his best work.

Can Fairy Tales have plot problems?
Yes it's a bit like Sublety of Thay, with so many high powered magical devices, fighters can cast more spells between rests than a Wizard or Sorceress.
I did like Bad Habits, & Serene.
I played A Fairy Tale a couple of years ago, but I had read something on the vault that made me think Fern was a same sex romance option, and it ruined it a bit for me, I was rejecting Ashley (normally a male when you play a female) but wasn't getting anywhere with Fern. I was replaying bits thinking I had given the wrong reply some where. I never got a Fairy Tale ending.
I like it more this time now I know what to expect.
I'll have to download it from Nexus so I can endorse it.

The political setting and back story are aren't well thought out and in some particulars just wrong. The line about "the only way to end a war ..." being the most egregious example. That said, it's no worse than the typical Hollywood fare. It works for the same reason a "buddy" film works, character development and pacing.

Tsongo's characters come complete with quirks, phobias, and personal crusades. They're fun to play with. That makes his work fun to play.

So we stocked up on everything we thought we needed and headed into the forest.
By the time we reached the forest proper, day had turned to night, and bad things come out at night.
Spoiler

Happily ever after.

Edit:
I just downloaded it from Nexus so I could endorse it.
I see there is a Swashbuckler companion in it somewhere. I must have missed that bit.
I still had the stone key, & a quest about Goblin kidnapping at the end, so he/she might have been tied to one of those.

I started Hearts of Endia yesterday but it keeps locking up on me during conversations so no pics.

(Very frustrating.)

That's a bummer, I quite liked that one. I hit a couple of small bugs, but nothing like that.
I thought it was a pretty good effort for someones' first module.

Anyway, I've just started Moonshadows Chapter 1.
I took your advice & went with a Ranger.

Yes, you just click on the map in your hot bar, new places added as you find them.

To be more specific, it isn't a drawn map per se (though it could be, I guess). You use the item and a dialogue window triggers. You get a list of "responses" with the places you can travel to.

I agree that it's a great feature on modules that involve lots of backtracking.

PS: You can get a pretty good bow in Moonshadows if you're going the archery route. If you wanna know where to get it, it's...

I've probably already been to that area, but I've stopped picking up loot, because there is no-one to sell it to.
Who had the bow, and how good are we talking?

So I finally found a merchant.
Spoiler

but he did offer me a job if I ever get to Waterdeep...

I think the three bears had the bow. However I used certain conversations to upgrade the bow the PC already had so it ended up being better.

Alright, I haven't been there yet, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Edit:

Cool but see my comments on this module on the vault.

I did read them before I started it, but the part about the merchants & coming prepared didn't sink in.
I've still got no boots, belt, cape or gloves & only the low level rings from the freeby starting boxes.

Well you may have to multi-class to get some protection from magic.
Last time I played this I used an Eldrich Knight.

Good luck!
