When i play Inquisition i get pulled in by that game i really feel like i am the Inquisitor and for me that is a big compliment to Bioware. And there are a lot of games out there where i don't get pulled in at all it is just a game that i play then. So how do you play the game do you get pulled in as well or is it just a game.

Thoughts anyone ?

I put the game disc in the console and push 'x'. Or, if I'm on my PC, I right click Origins icon and then click on Dragon Age: Inquisition Deluxe Edition.

So for you it is just a game then.

I put the game disc into the console and then I quickly remove it, throw it to the ground and put any other game into the console.

Only ever got attached to one inquisitor. her playthrough took over 350 hours to complete, including all DLC's.

the others were created, barely got to haven and forgotten. Most of the time. a few made it to end game.

No. Well, if you have, don't consider me one. I just despise the game.

When I want to play Inquisition, I have to reserve most of the day for it... there is so much to explore, so many people to talk to, finishing a quest usually prompts a new one, aaaand I like completing an area in one go if just possible. I curse at the characters and enemies, I laugh and cry... I also can't stand the romantic scenes between my Inquisitor and her love interest. :pinched:  It's just too awkward hahaha...

In one and a half years, I haven't even managed to complete the game. The farthest I got was doing all main quests after Skyhold. I've created many Inquisitors and most of them got to Skyhold, but there is always some little annoying thing that keeps bothering me that my playthrough won't be perfect or I've just realised that my character looks not the way I wanted it (this was a problem before the Black Emporium), so I delete the playthrough and plan on starting a new one, but then I realize I've just deleted 30-40 hours of playtime and think I will return to this game later.

Other times, I just get bored, take a long break from the game, then when I try to pick up where I left off, I already half-forgotten the setting, my choices, my relationships with my companions, war table status and just can't get into it and have to start a new game.

Sucks to be a completionist I guess. I just have to get every single achievement, explore every place on the map, do every sidequest, beat every dragon, otherwise I can't justify paying for the game. But the game is big and empty. People say then don't visit half of the available areas, but again, why are they even in the game if they are not meant to be visited? I know, I'm a special clinical case.

Well, then I have a lot to look forward to, since I'm only in the 40ies right now.

Hey, I feel ya. I'm not as extreme as you obviously are, but at some point there always comes the realization of something that could have been handled better. Some romance maybe be more rewarding than the other or some career could have been better handled with another skillset.

I become my Elf Inquisitor  so I can understand the game better. I'm not the type to say "yes" to everything especially being called the Herald of Andraste  and becoming the appointed Inquisitor..I also love exploring all map areas of the game.

I really enjoy doing "Hunger pains" "In the elements", "The Dalish Ring"  and "Love Awaits" quest since I sit up camps, close rifts and kill baddies in the process.

I'm on my 5th play through and have 41 hours in so far.

I never worry about stopping and restarting a game regardless of hours played.. I call it a learning process since I start over because I my levels isn't where I want them to be before going to (say) Crestwood or The Exalted Plains. .

Yes I get pulled into it too.  I write a little biography about each character and decide beforehand their beliefs and attitude and stick to it.

I have a system for Inquisition, I kinda need it as I find the open world boring at times.  (A legacy of my WoW days, it's killed open world for me).

So I do no more than an hour of open world, go back to base and chat with folk, another hour of open world, then a main/side quest.  That way I don't overdo the open world questing and don't get bored of it.

I skipped 4 zones last time completely, and focused on the others in their entirety so I could learn the stories of each place.  The Western Approach and Forbidden Oasis were just 'boring deserts' for me originally, but when I fully committed to do everything in each place I enjoyed the stories.  I just had to have the right attitude I guess.

That's how I play anyways, I'm a special snowflake apparently as I actually love the game.

On a sidenote, I find it amazing the games allows me to play as an atheist. I did that with all my characters so far, since it's the one thing I'm taking with me from real life. But I'm planning on another playthrough as being fervently religious to see if and what that changes.

Uhm 350 hours is really very extreme it's more like 120 hours at least for me and i do every quest there is and i explore everything and that is without the DLC's and i can not imagine that the DLC's take that long to complete.

I can only speak in past tense since I long uninstalled the game. To me, playing Inquisition was the very embodiment of "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment".

I wanted to like this game, I tried pretty hard to make the Inquisitor the character I envisioned, but Inquisition's choices and especially dialogue options (all so very neutral) didn't really let me. I was excited about the story until a bit after Haven, when it gradually dawned on me that I might already be past the game's most exciting story moment. The interest in the story faded, and going forward I played it more as a mechanical challenge of how well I could kit out my party in crafted gear and how quickly I could "process" enemies with them. It became an exercise in efficiency for the most part, and that at least led to a satisfactory result.

I fully realize that my completionist OCD did me no favors here, because it resulted in a terrible imbalance of filler vs story parts, which together with the RP limitations, the static world and NPCs (heck, some stand like leaden statues if you run into them) and the overall single-player MMO vibe I got from the otherwise gorgeous maps prevented me from getting really invested into the game.

Gileadan, After the first few struggling attempts I really disliked DA:I and then I struggled my way through the game and found it wasn't a bad game it was just me and my Final Fantasy game style of wanting to grind up between areas of the game. DA:I  is my 7th favorite game.

It might be a very different experience with less grinding and more walking away from requisition tables. Who knows, now that all the schematics are uploaded to the great nug in the sky, I could probably skip entire zones!

I do this too on all the DA games. I find it very helpful to have a little outline about your character before you have even made or played as them... I find it keeps me in line with the personality I want to roleplay for whatever type of character I happen to be playing :)

I treat it as an interactive work of fiction in which I define much about the lead character including her personality and thoughts

While she may has some personality traits in common with me, she is not me (for a start I'm not an elf)
