i still dont understand the conflict, there has to be hundreds of Earth like planets in the Andromeda system, are we really saying there isn't one such planet that has no intelligent life on it that mankind can settle without conflicting with some new alien race? Or that the aliens within that galaxy can't stand to part with one planet for these voyagers?

You know those uninhabited rocks in the South China Sea that could actually start WW3 if we aren't careful.

That.

^ zipzap that wisdom was too compact.

Translated it means: You haven't used that part of your garden, or travelled to your vacation home, fired up that inherited Harley in the barn of your dead uncle Jim from new orleans since a decade. I need it. You don't, (exactly now). So I take it, because (insert any plausible reason here). You 've just stumbled on the ubuntu philopsophy all by yourself animedreamer. Ownership was invented by homosapiens, which originated in africa, spread to europe.... Spread everywhere else... Wait, that's a paradox again. Maybe nature is just that - a time to spread and a time to go extinct.(taking).

So compassion and love (giving) does not come naturally. Nor be explained by hard science. Thank goodness for that.

Where's the fun in that? Peace isn't an option because it's a video game and the majority of peeps who play this just wanna go pew pew! I know I'd certainly prefer blowing a peace council up instead of taking part in it and engaging in bureaucratic decision making (which here amounts to picking the red or blue options).

I suppose some of the aliens would be with us and some against us, so that we get the best of both worlds.

Garden worlds are rare in the ME setting.  It's the source of the conflict between humans and batarians.

But really, they're just pathetic bullies. Spending money to build something out in the open like that (prone to typhoon too) and using fishing vessels to boss the nations around it... which is kinda extra stupid actually. Besides, I'm waiting for a typhoon to wipe them out. Climate change ftw.

I think I just became a 16 year old white girl, because I had a moment there where I couldn't even.

Indigenous people refer to those who are native to the land. This includes white people, who are in fact native to some land(typically Europe).

On top of that, it wasn't just the white people who went around conquering people and generally messing things up. We were simply the most effective at doing it other than the Mongols, but they're the exception to a lot of things in history. It happens, you get used to it.

Many Humans don't have a good balance with nature because we're considered an invasive species, which means we usually end up messing things up. We're kind of a terrible species for everything that isn't us or things we find cute and adorable and want to keep as pets, like cats. The amount of Human groups that actually had respect for the land is actually fairly small. Most who didn't mess up the land simply lacked the level of technology to be able to do so.

When you're going around saying stuff "because it's the truth" it generally helps to have your information correct =P

Wait for it...The Mongols, yes they are the exception. Actually the Mongols are the ancestor of Europeans today, in which originally come from the east to the west during the late Roman era. Europeans today aren't really Europeans but Mongol stock who razed, pillage, rape and occupy large part of Europe. The Vandals, Goth, Ostrogoth, Scytians, Frank and many more are all Mongol tribes from the east that becomes Saxon, French and German. The only real Europeans are the Greek and Romans, they who shape what "European" look like, Hellenistic culture. The word Europe itself is a woman name, the one who got raped by Zeus and give birth to Europeans. How about Scandinavians and the Celts? They are closer to Aryan than anyone ever think, and thus have close relationship with eastern people than western. That's why they share culture and attitude with eastern people, only in different form, such as Bagpipes, in the east we have Serunai, the very same wind instrument but played in different way. Scandinavians sometimes going "Skyclad", eastern people going "Amok"....and so on...

Spoiler

It's true the Mongols are basically everyone practically everywhere.

Once I tried to understand why the Mongols lost in Egypt to the Mamluks (who ruled Egypt at the time), because I was like whoa that was the only place they didn't lose.

And it turns out the Mamluks were... wait for it...

Mongols.

Anyway this is something else, I don't know how accurate it is but...

Spoiler

Edit: Oh a necro eh.. hrmm..

Yes

Only the Mongols can defeat Mongols, that's historical fact...

And the same reason why "Europe" can conquer Jerusalem and beat up the Arabs, because they are the descendants of...wait for it, the Mongols...and even the Turks are Mongol stock so you can imagine why they can drove out the "Europeans" back and conquer half of Europe

When the Mongol rise, everyone must submit, nothing can be done...just hope that the other Mongols will side with you instead

Crash Course is great.

It would be hilarious if Bioware had the Andromeda Aliens in a political situation akin to Meso America in the 15th century, where the Protagonists are akin to the Spanish, which it probably will echo anyway, but are not subtle about it, with architectural references or a "Chariots of the Gods situation . I quite liked the slow build up to an awareness of a potential alien threat in "Mote in Gods Eye"  (https://en.wikipedia...te_in_God's_Eye) where the explorers run into an apparent stable caste system that is the product of a very competitive unstable process.

Man any reference to colonization could be problematic, they will probably have experts on this so they don't set off groups with agendas, or at least have strategies in place to cope.

Technically The Mongolians are descended from Neanderthals from the Caucasus Mountains and they are known for to be extremely violent and barbaric in order to survive in the cold harsh environment, and this falls into racial/genetic memory of why they're extremely violent.

Well anyway the point is it's all one big Mongol civil war half the time or something.

I'm sure someone won militarily against Mongol tactics/organization, but at least in the instance they were just "out-Mongoled"

I don't know I read the Neanderthal Wikipedia article, and based on other things I've seen elsewhere it sounds like the the vast swatch of the world from Mongolia E to the Atlantic and W and S all the way to like Israel and Spain and into England was literally Neanderthal while Hom-Sapiens were in Egypt and stuff.......

.............................................hm.
