"Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory - where WE are the aliens - opposed by a deadly indigenous race bent on stopping us.

Yes we're the conquerors! Space Conquistadors.

Colonel Quaritch would have loved this game.

All I know is this is not where I thought humanity would end up when I first played ME1. Some generic "idea" of humanity, off in another galaxy. I don't feel like I stand for anything now. Although it was sci-fi, there was something relatable about the setting before. Like the Alliance was an extension of the Space Race.

It really is a sad turn, if I think about it.

I'm not liking the emphasis on humanity.  It sounds like the "humans are super special, so much more special than all the other advanced species" nonsense is rearing its ugly head once again.

"This is the story of humanity's next chapter, and player choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival in the Andromeda galaxy."

"There is a major battle brewing, and it awaits you. It is unfolding across a galaxy of planets, with creatures and species entirely unknown. Draw your weapon, because the fight is bigger than you thought. It's not just for your own life, it's for all humanity - the ultimate battle for a place we can all call home."

Yeah not a fan of the over emphasis on humanity and the absence of the mentioning of the rest of milky way races as a collective.

Actual information? No matter how reliable (or unreliable) this is, that's not what I expected to see today.

Either way - interesting stuff. I, for once, am happy to hear that our character has military background. Not sure about the rest...

They should have thrown in the towel (like Hudson planned) and made a new sci-fi franchise. Would that have been so bad? :P

I sincerely hope that this emphasis on humanity doesn't mean the complete absence of the alien races from ME...

I want to see the old races again, not just new races. Humans are not what makes Mass Effect an interesting setting.

About the Focus on humanity and fear other MW species aren't, we had leaked info on other races in the game, plus we was a krogan in the trailer, and the leak talked about
Spoiler
.
The humanity focus in the marketing is expected, in my opinion. Though it's possible we'll Focus more on our own colonization of Andromeda.

This feels like that lame Transformers reboot when Optimus and Co got wiped out. And the new Leader was some guy called "Hot Rod".

So its basically colonization of America story set in space where we fight a race of savage monsters only to discover that they arent savage or monsters and that in fact we are the monsters. Anyone willing to bet that will be the story

We're special but you all fall in line behind us we can all be special together and survive here?

They should have done that already. The original setting was ripe for politics, but they sidestepped it and kept emphasizing the reapers instead.

It seems too late now... to me anyways.

I don't dislike the premise. It's not like ME had some breaking new plot, and humanity was 'Special' since the first game, even before Shepard's auctions (and if becomes further expanded in the other games). I want to see how it went executed. I hope though the MW Races won't have a too small role on it though.

There was something in the twitter thread about parachuting volcanoes and (KROGAN!!!!) Krogan. So at least there's that.

What the hell are Krogan doing there?

And without the cure, I assume.

What a mess..

None of these species - including humanity - are interesting without their MW problems.

Considering nature of Ark Project, I'd expect everyone selected for Ark to be worthy. Military specialists, science specialists, janitor specialists and so on. Everyone is special.

By all means I agree. But I have this creeping suspicion that they will simplify the end again. Paragon to stop colonization of Andromeda by Milky way races and renegade to continue on and wipe out the natives of the galaxy

They're a dead end. Why invite someone like that? Without the cure, they contribute nothing except muscle. Longterm though, that's a problem. They're so stupid that they can't even do basic colonizing functions without screwing it up. Even Wrex admitted that.

That's your opinion, though based in this no matter what they do with Andromeda, you won't like it.

I'm hoping that this has more to do with marketing than what the actual content of the game will be like.

Because they'd likely try to save every species, if (as I think) they travelled before the end of ME3.
