They didn't plan any of it at first. And should have stuck with that. Hudson said after ME3 there'd be nothing after the ME3 timeline.. this a cash grab and it shows. It's not inspired. There weren't ideas for these races outside their plots.

It was during development I think, though at the same time other devs said there might've been other games.

I think it could've been far easier to make a cash grab in the MW, either as a sequel or a sidequel, to be honest.

All I see is "battle", "fight", "battle"...

I guess they have to sell it somehow.

I don't think any of it would be easy.. that's why I think they should have just made another sci-fi franchise.

Oh well.

They were already planning another new IP, I doubt they'd plan to on the same time. Plus, while I don't think the game is a cash grab, it's obvious a ME game would attract a lot of costumers.

Yeah, I heard such explanations when EA leaked first "Save mah Earth" info when entire galaxy was supposed to be under attack. Should I remind how it played out?

Yeah now that Im thinking about this is sounding alot like Mass Effect 1 you know an all human crew with both Human & Alien Squadmates.

I was just reading this on the presse !

It seems we will have difficult choices to do, I think making us the "bad guy" is pretty cool (and very logical, Andromeda is not our home) but as a person who play mainly Paragon, I hope I won't be forced to do very ugly things to the new species. As I was thinking since the start, it seems the aliens from Andromeda will just try to protect their home from us, colonists.

BioWare, please, do something great with the choices and if possible propose us a large range of answers to deal with hard situations, that's all I ask. Thanks.

                                                                                       <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

From humanity's point of view, we are the "good guys", though I understand why the local races see us as the "bad guys".

So what I am taking from this.

We are going to Andromeda (duh) and are opposed by a race. Is this going to be like the Prothean "race"? Not specifically one race, but the entire galactic community that call themselves the same thing.

Choices are obvious (BioWares thing) so I'm thinking we are going to have to try and win over some of these indigenous races. Prove to them that we are... I don't know. Invaders? But essentially, prove to them that we are willing to cooperate, and just want a place to call home.

The fact that they are calling it a new home means to say, we will likely never see the Milky Way again. It's not "a place to stay for the evening". It's "home". Home implies, we're not going to leave it.

And Humanity. Humans. I think that, if it wasn't already confirmed Krogans were in the game, the Ark would be human only. So, perhaps the other races onboard this venture will try to find their own homes as well. Of course, no one planet is going to be perfect for every one race. Humans are going to be better suited to one world, whereas Krogan another.

Well we are in their galaxy which they likely have more rights than us- I guess it's possible that there is uncharted No Man's Land somewhere where we can set ourselves up rightfully- but it's also possible that aliens in Andromeda have already divided everything between each other. Like if aliens were to come to Earth and look for place to live here, surely there would be some land area where humans' don't really live, but they surely still belong to some country who would be angry for alien take over and demand compensations.

I don't think you really grasp the sense of scale in the word "galaxy".

Applying ownership to an entire galaxy is a laughable concept. You might as well say that everyone has the same right because we are from the same universe...

I doubt we are going to settle their moon, at best it will be something that they have a very minor claim to.

Yes. Humanity will be front and center. As it should be. We're the best of the best. Take care of our own before worrying about the others. My main character will put a Cerberus flag on the first planet he/she steps on in honor of TIM, and beside that flag, another flag with the words HUMANITY #1. TIM would be so proud. Outstanding. Go humanity go!

Humanity is a big, fat mess. They're not winning anymore. They used to win all the time, but now they're losers. Cerberus tried to make humanity great again, but they failed miserably. Cerberus is a mess, they're low-energy losers. Their leader Illusive Man is a mess. He lost to Commander Shepard. How can you lose to a commie like Shepard? The Illusive Man is weak, he's low-energy, he's just a big, fat mess. The Illusive Man isn't going to make humanity great again. He couldn't even make Cerberus great again. Anyone who supports the Illusive Man is a weak, low-energy phony.

I will make humanity great again, by building a wall, a big, beautiful wall, around Earth. It will keep out the aliens and the losers. I will build this wall and make the Council pay for it.

I didn't want to click like on this but I fear it may be accurate.

A completely new space opera franchise, fine.

However, I'm just going to go with it and if it sounds promising as a game from the previews/reviews I read then I'll buy it, if not I won't. I'm not going to get bogged down in the minutiae of the ME lore, its history or if/how any of it applies to any kind of actual scientific reasoning.

Well....Here I am an ME customer -- and one who wasn't even a hater of the ME3 ending..

And I'm very "meh" on this. They could have easily won me over on something else. I like new ideas, and think ME ran it's course.

I don't know what that other IP is though.. but I mean (and said) another sci-fi IP. That other one might not even be sci-fi... who knows?

I never said every fan of ME would want to buy this game.

I'm not sold on this either, because I want to see where they'll go with the premise of the game, as well as seeing if they step up their game in some features I find lacking or disappointing in their last games.

I suspect feudal tribes would have thought the same thing about an entire continent (or near as damnit) - now there's Russia, Australia and the USA.

It could easily be written into the story that wherever we make landfall in Andromeda - every habitable planet anywhere near where we arrive, is already inhabited... and they're a federation of species bound together into one massive alliance. Travelling through their space could be seen as an equivalent to an incursion into their "coastal waters" - and be repelled with force.

I'm with you on that at least. I'm curious enough to want to know the premise. But it's more like fascination... lol.. like watching someone climb out of a pit. :P

Understood :P

I think, in any way, that we know too little about the game to form any judgement. It can be a huge disappointment as well as a great game. I hope they'll release more info soon-ish.

I like how it sounds even it could be marketting bullshit.

The approach seems interesting to me but at the end it will depend how it is executed. At least making us some kind of invaders/conquistadors create room for a lot of "grey" choices. As a player who tends to play "Paragon", I hope at several occasions the game will confront me with choices between the plague and cholera.

I wouldn't be to worry about the emphasis on humanity. This is just the most common acceptable ground. Especially in term of marketting. If they would have emphasis on Krogan, fans of Salarian wouldn't have been happy, etc...

And about saving all the humanity, let's put this in perspective. They showed us a trailer where Commander Shepard was saying goodbye to what is supposed to be our exploration vessel. If we assume this happen during the war against Reapers, from the perspective of our protagonist, the Milky Way is lost to the Reapers and this expedition is the only hope for humanity. I must admit that probably too elaborate for marketting. (because it implies the target is very familliar with all Mass Effect content)

Something that would thrill me (if it is the way they want to follow) is a beginning cinematic where we see Reaper destroying some major Milky Way cities, then our ship leaving. That would put us in the following role : "We can't go back! We must succeed in Andromeda! Up to where are we ready to go to make our specie(s) survive?"

Why they still repeating tropes about humanity to survive, find a new home, fighting aliens who don't like us, and we're special than everybody trope and you have to be a big Alliance hero who saves the day......again? It's like they can't come up with nothing original it doesn't have to be a survival of the human race. But I knew that the plot is a cliché trope from the start. *sighs* This is why I don't take BW seriously.

I don't think there is just one alien species in Andromeda taking space, that wouldn't make sense to me. There was already fighting about planets and space in Milky Way- Krogan were thinking of asking planets to settle in from Council after helping with Reaper war and some were reluctant of that idea, Batarian were mad at humans from taking space they thought was theirs and so on.

There isn't anything here that we already didn't know and/or could swing a cat at and hit. I remain unimpressed until I see new stuffs.

That might be true, but only if the locals are a type 2+ or type 3 civilization.

And if they are, all that the refugees from MW can do is beg and explain that they will make for great pets.

Because any kind of military conflict between the survivors on the Ark and the locals will be very short...

According to Bioware it seems that there is one (possibly not including some ancient threat...) main faction of hostile aliens.

And yeah, you can always meet new type of angry alien bullies like the Batarians, but their claims won't really be legitimate,

and I'm certainly not going to feel guilty for fighting them.

Your Shepard might be a commie, but mine isn't. I like the character. Never said I support what he did.

That's why I used " "  when I was talking about us as the "bad guys" : Milky Way's species try to survive and there's nothing wrong about this, but if it's at the expense of other natives species from Andromeda, I have a problem with that.

I'm so curious to see what will happen on the game and what possibilities we will have to deal with this complicated situation.

I would also love to have diplomatic missions, with a reaction of the aliens based on your attitude during the game (or during the mission itself), choices, and all.

...of all the stuff of the leak, I only liked "deep customization", and I know is nothing really reliable and just pretty words.
The emphasis on humanity quite frankly killed a good portion of my interest in the game.

Exactly. They should start over with the plot and make it more of a grand adventure of your life like The Hobbit or Star Trek.

I'm yet to understand how someone being born in Andromeda makes him entitled to ownership of a mind-bogglingly huge space like an entire galaxy.

By the universal law of dibs, of course.
