Who says we don't? After all we'll be piloting a ship that isn't the big one. One of the leaks also mentioned krogans having ships. Plus the main ship looks absolutely massive, so can have portions devoted to each race.

... Good point, if we come on Andromeda with an army of ships for each MW species... no wonder why the natives from Andromeda will be scared of us and will certainly not see us as friendly people ~

Indeed.

How can anyone or any civilization or any species "own" anything?

By calling dibs.

Everyone knows about the International Dibs Protocol, and the No Take Backs Accord.

Possible player quotes"

"Our numbers will darken the sky of every world."

"Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure"

"Before us, you are nothing.  Your extinction is inevitable.  We are the end of everything."

"I am the Harbinger of your perfection"

"Your worlds will become our laboratories"

"You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."

"Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding"

"Confidence born of ignorance."

"Your words are as empty as your future.  I am the vanguard of your destruction.  This exchange is over."

"I will show you true power"

"Know this as you die in vain: your time will come.  Your species will fall"

"Your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater"

"You strive against inevitability, dust struggling against cosmic winds"

:P

"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite colony world to conquer."

The indigenous species is probably the Khet.

This "leak" supports the original one. Humans are fleeing from the MW galaxy catastrophe, colonizing the Helius cluster is imperative for survival.

Obviously we are not the equivalent of the Spanish Conquistadors, However, colonization = taking prime real estate, if possible. This may screw up expansion plans by the locals. So begins the Turf War. In a war, making allies is a must. Obtaining high Remnant tech blueprints will help the war effort. I doubt moral choices will trump survival choices, though.

I also can't understand some posters' assumptions that Humans are special. We are not. This is our story and not the Asari's or Turians' or Krogans'. Again, from Conal Pierce's introduction to Andromeda, our hero is combat trained but a newbie explorer. Surely, everyone understands the need for military training in such an environment in case we meet hostiles? The newbie explorer, here, provides the necessary 'weakness' and voids "we are special" view point, imo

Anyway, maybe a future game will have the Asari escaping from the MW and the game will be from their perspective. Who knows, somewhere down the road Humans and Asari may meet in the Andromeda galaxy.

Wait, huh? We already know that Krogan and likely Asari will be in the game. Krogan is confirmed, Asari were mentioned in the same leak which initially mentioned Krogan. I'm sure Salarians and Turians will make the cut too.

They aren't just cutting out all MW species. Why would you think that? We know for a fact that some have been cut, but that doesn't mean all have or that it is a "human only" adventure.

A lot of the speculation seems to be using some kind of Citadel-like design to create a flying city.

The N7-day thing with the ginormous Collector-like vessel certainly added to that.

I hope they let us play as the imperialist colonizer rather than force us to reach some sort of compromise to co-exist peacefully.

Even if that means we get wiped out.

My understanding from the survey is that humanity is looking for a new home. I don't see aggressive invasion as part of the survey. I see that the inhabitants of Andromeda are wary of humanity and think they are hostile. Hence they attack.

Yea but even if that's the case, it still wouldn't change the fact tact we went to a new galaxy and immediately war broke out with it's inhabitants. Sure, we may not have a choice, we have to fight for our survival but if that's the story, I hope it'll be handled with way more nuance than "these are the bad guys because they attacked us when we just came here".

As I said, the setup has the potential for telling a very interesting morally grey and controversial story. I hope they make the best of it. That text (which may not mean much at all, I realize that) seems to involve a whole lot a dumb pathos though.

Wasn't a bit more info at all.  Could have gathered it from the leak from nearly a year ago to be honest. All it really do is nail down certain things more.

That could be true, but it also could be that the aliens there are already very aggressive / slavers like the Protheans.

Of course but it's still their galaxy, which we just come into. Just because we don't like how they do things and because they are aggressive, does that make our actions to take a piece of their territory right?

Note: I am not saying there is a simple answer to this. I just think that this needs to be handled with care and illuminated from several perspectives in a good story, especially in an RPG where the main character should be able to have varying opinions on the matter.

Hopefully not. It would make things less morally gray if the aliens did something as part of their culture that is almost universally agreed as wrong.

Like the Batarians. Boo-hoo humanity jacked your colony worlds and then you threw a tantrum, shut down your embassy and locked yourselves in your room. But we didnt care, because they're a bunch of slaver douche-canoes.

It would be more interesting if things weren't that clear-cut.

I think depending on the spine of the story this will be a very two-tone style of setting, a sort of Manifest Destiny point of view or Diplomatic Negotiation point of view.

I figure we will eventually all fall under the same chokepoint like all video game RPGs, but the path to getting there is going to be paved with either good or bad intentions.

I have a theory.

Bioware confirmed that the person in the E3 trailer was NOT the protagonist.

I'm wondering if the N7 (possibly Ryder) went to go colonize, and went Rogue, causing a war. We (the pathfinder protagonist) go to stop it / clean up Ryder's mess / do his job.

I don't know, just by going what's in this text:

Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory - where WE are the aliens - opposed by a deadly indigenous race bent on stopping us.

[...]

There is a major battle brewing, and it awaits you. It is unfolding across a galaxy of planets, with creatures and species entirely unknown. Draw your weapon, because the fight is bigger than you thought. It's not just for your own life, it's for all humanity - the ultimate battle for a place we can all call home.

I'd say we fight those indigenous people pretty directly.

I mean, there are still plenty of ways to make us the ultimate good guys of course: For example, that one hostile race could supress another one with which we ally, etc.

In a way though, I hope they tackle the more controversial and interesting plot line. I doubt they have the guts for that though.

I like the interesting moral conflict, but I reaaaaaallllly hope it doesn't just become 'Avatar/Dances with Wolves'. I mean a little would probably be unavoidable, and would be weird not to include it to some extent, but I hope it isn't the main premise of the story.

Well....Here I am an ME customer -- and one who wasn't even a hater of the ME3 ending..

And I'm very "meh" on this. They could have easily won me over on something else. I like new ideas, and think ME ran it's course.

I don't know what that other IP is though.. but I mean (and said) another sci-fi IP. That other one might not even be sci-fi... who knows?

We know almost nothing about the game, besides the name. It's obvious one won't be interested. I, for one, really appreciate a new Mass Effect, for EA it's business as usual, and for me - the fan, it's more from what I love.

Milking is such a word people like to toss it around just for the lolz.

Yes but here is how I see the game unfolding.

Once we reach Andromeda, the colony ships with various MW races will part ways and will attempt to colonize different sectors in the cluster.  To get a Krogan or Asari as squad mates, some loyalty missions are probably required. This is Bio throwing us a bone. Once done, the Pathfinder is free to search for local recruitment. The other MW races are left to their own devices, never to be heard from again.

Our Pathfinder team will probably look like this:

Human, Asari, Krogan, Salarian + three races from the local cluster.

The human adventure I'm talking about is just that.  The struggle to get a foothold and meeting Khet resistance with hard choices and the "hybrid" team.

Could simply be terrorist plots too. That would make them blood enemies throughout the game.

I am hoping for more nuance than that, and i'm hoping we avoid a dances with wolves kind of storyline fully...

I think if both sides act kind of dickish, but kind of have good qualities to them then it would be an interesting choice, not a one-sided conflict.

Thoughs:

Humanity is special. Of course. The usual trope.

We're military again. Another boring trope.

We may be bringing Milk Way smallpox and wipe out civilizations.

Looking like Shep 2.0. Sounds like we could be another brick with guns. Shocker.

Also it's being marketed as a third person shooter game with RPG elements rather than an action role-playing game with shooter elements? That's not a good sign.

It's been a TPS with the lightest of light rpg elements since ME 2. I don't a expect that to change. So we may be stuck to corridors again.

All in all.. I hope that this leak is bullpoo but I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. If so, I might have to pass.
