Like any good ideological revolutionary Solas doesn't give a rat's ass whether they are choosing their oppression willingly.  Their offspring will not have that choice.  

Yeah, that's the point I use against anyone who says that the Qun would be fine if they scrapped their expansionist ideas and lived on their own. Problem is, they'd still be "expansionist" in regards to their children, and that's not fair. Few people who believe they practice the One True Way of Life™ will give their children room to discover what they want themselves, especially if the society wouldn't even function if they didn't all adhere to it.

"It's just the way I see it" is not a valid comment on something factual. Solas removes the mark in all variations of the game. Earth's moon is 384400 km away. The sky is blue.

 

These are not up for debate.

 

With regards to the second part: Who are you to say what someone should do "if they truly loved someone"? That's going to lead to the No True Scotsman fallacy, fast. That is, however, your opinion, so you can have it.

You're the one who said you're done with the series. So obviously, according to your own words, you don't care about the series anymore. 

 

Further griping about the series is just you griping to gripe. Which is weird. 

 

Why would I need thick skin? To me people like you are an oddity, a wonder of humanity, drawn to things you no longer like just to work yourselves up a bit. It's like purposely sitting in the heat of the sun then complaining about it instead of moving into the shade and cooling off. I brought logic to your statement just to see if you'd still argue to sit in the sun. lol, and clearly you are. 

 

This isn't about debate, you made statements about your disdain for the series, what's to debate about that? Should someone debate you're not entitled to your opinion? That would be ridiculous.

 

Anyone who's read this thread knows I don't demand fealty to Solas. That's a strawman. I'll debate with people over how he is or isn't characterized in the series but I never demand people be as interested in the character as I am.   

The whole point of this thread is and always has been  critics of the character in the game not that someone  shouldn't be allowed to do so.

This is a forum. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - even if it doesn't happen to match yours. Trolling and outright abuse with  gifs is another thing which you did when you quoted a small part of my post and dismissed the rest.

 The title of this thread tells you what kind of theme to expect here. If you don't want to  hear negative things about Solas , then don't read them. If you feel they are wrong or have something to say, then you can do so.On a thread dedicated , we're well within our rights to say our piece, so long as we do it with civility.

I'm all for people defending a game they like. But cheap throwaway lines like  "Unless, you know, you like siting around complaining about a game series" are a form of trolling.

 The issues are more complicated than that, and when either side of this argument tries to simplify it ivy resorting to such easy parroting  on these issues, then it gets us nowhere, except to make both sides harden their views even further and assume each other are just zealous Fanboy/Hater nutcases who won't listen to reason.

But I haven't seen anyone act like you're not allowed to offer criticism regardless. There have been 136 pages of well-thought-out, extensive discussion, so I'm not going to get annoyed if there are a few pictures and gifs posted when people start to tire of the endless debates.

but what can i say? If players want a feast of Solas with another Blanketfort   that doesn't mean that i'm not entitled to ruin their party

What does Solas do in The DLC's that some people here like or maybe even love him so much. Because i know him only from my Inquisition game and i cannot imagine that someone gets truly romantic feelings for him. It's not that i do not like him for me it is in between i find him a bit a mister know it all and he is a little bit to elfy for me. There is nothing wrong with that ( he is an elf ). But i do like his stories when he tells about them but to really like ( love ) him then no not me.

  

You would probably say that i should buy the DLC's and find out myself i am planning to. But i have to wait a little longer so in the meantime you might tell me a little bit why you like ( love ) him so much ( or not ).

Yes, but you've expressed your own feelings on character/story by literally saying at one point that you're "pretty done with Dragon Age, and utterly sick of Solas-this, Solas-that, Solas-everything"... yet you keep hanging to the thread that IS pretty much 'Solas-this, Solas-that, Solas-everything' (positive or negative) for no good reason other than apparently to keep complaining about, well... Solas-everything and how you don't like the story is told, which for some people at least seems not only pointless given the focus of the thread, but bizarre.

Especially that you'e not necessarily civil towards people you disagree with yourself, insinuating that those who find it curious you're still discussing things you're "pretty much done with" merits throwing accusations of trying to turn thread/forum into being just filled with people who "unconditionally praise" things (talk about insulting someone's intelligence...) and are in need of growing a thicker skin, while apparently being indignant about commenting something with a gif, or pointing out that you're addressing a strawman and not a point someone was making. Again, if you're done with Dragon Age, what are you still doing here? Why aren't you discussing a video game series you're actually interested in? 

 

It's weird. You don't see me up in the Mass Effect Andromeda thread because I'm done with the Mass Effect series. 

 

You are acting obtuse. I've disagreed with a lot of points of discussion in this very thread and not asked the people raising them why they're still here. Mainly because the folks I disagree with are still apparently interested in Dragon Age. You should have noticed that. 

 

 

I've never insisted that people like Solas. I may disagree with how they characterize him or his motivations but only a simpleton would misconstrue that as insistence that they like the character. 

 

I've never insisted that Solas is above criticism. Your argument that I or that anyone else in this thread has tried to silence criticism of Solas is both silly and facile. 

 

Even the Blankefort thread welcomes differing viewpoints of Solas... from the OP FAQ:

A. You're entitled to that opinion and to express it. Solas-critical opinions are welcome in this thread, so long as they're expressed politely and don't involve bashing Solas-fans or whatever. Personally I see Solas as a gray, complex figure and a deeply flawed individual, and I think it's awesome that he evokes lots of different kinds of reactions from people.

 

That you spend so much time being critical instead of actually reading what's being said isn't surprising. You've flatly stated you're not interested in Dragon Age. According to your own words, you're just interested in grumbling about something you're not interested in.
