I've suggested this myself before. Wouldn't that just be awful, knowing even if you stop Solas, the world will die out to the Blight anyway eventually if the Veil isn't removed, and the source of the Taint dealt with directly?

That is so my face every time I think of DA4, lol!

Maybe, strangely, he is Thedas' only hope.

I think it's likely it'll line up that and that's why we couldn't stop Solas in Trespasser. But we'll see.

If they do something like that, I'm literally ejecting the game and taking it back for a refund.

So Solas is a greater threat than the blight? Noted.

They are equal threats, since if either succeeds it is the end of the people of modern Thedas.

What if there's a compromise that doesn't have to end the people of modern Thedas?

Such a compromise doesn't exist yet. I'm operating only with what we know now. If new data like that is presented, my viewpoint will change accordingly.

Solas being Thedas' only hope is also hypothetical and dealing with information we don't know yet, yes?

I don't need to remind you that at this point every person has their own interpretation of Solas' so called plans.

So tell me what he is going to do? Hmm? Literally kill everything and make the world itself wither and die? You do realize nothing grows on blighted soil and it corrupts all living beings from the very core?

Well, he's certainly a much more immediate threat. I'd put him on par with the Blights. Both spell destruction for Thedas.

Ummmm, pretty sure he said himself that the world would burn in the raw chaos once the Veil gets torn down...so you can kindly drop the condescension.

Well, not that I'm wishing you have a bad gaming experience, but that's a risk that's always present for games not custom made for us... it's what I did with ME3. Took that sucker back.

Then when the MEHEM mod came out I bought a cheaper PC copy.

Yes. And I said what I would do if that was the case, so also hypothetical. I was merely replying to that since that was the current conversation.

No, you don't need to remind me. I know.

His plan involves altering the very reality of the continent if not the planet, killing all those currently on it and making it better for those he is doing this for. That's exactly what the Darkspawn would do if a Blight succeeded.

Solas will not touch Thedas as a world though, big difference. And the only people that will die will be those who are in his way or those who will die from lack of veil. At the very least I think 30% of people will survive. The only thing that is guaranteed to be destroyed by Solas is dominant human culture and most likely Qunari as well. I doubt he will touch Dwarves.

So? It would be like a natural disaster, a disaster he was preventing from happening. The "burn" is absolutely metaphorical here.

Ummmm, yeah, I don't have a clue where you are pulling those numbers. Also pretty sure demons from lack of Veil can almost assuredly kill Dwarves. Solas doesn't have to kill anyone directly. All he has to do is tear down the Veil and all the demons swamp the land.

Huh, yeah, what will happen to the dwarves? Their connection to the Fade is definitely more muddy than the rest of the known races.

Ummmm, nothing, maybe? I honestly don't have a clue what it'd do the dwarves directly. However, there is still the problem of demons and spirits filling the land, which can lead to death or possession for dwarves, just like everybody else.

Edit: As for everyone else, those with magic get a massive power boost? Maybe new people around Thedas manifest magic for the first time, irrespective of age or race?

Actually demons are a product of the Veil, it seems. The Veil helps this process of spirits being turned from their purpose. We're not even sure that "demons" as we know them even exist in a Veiless world.

Then again, now with the Veil having been in place for as long as it has, it's quite possible demons will exist even without it. For starters there are the demons that exist now that would be able to wander the world freely. Then there is all the new demons that could be formed by the Veil suddenly being removed, like how spirits that were sucked through the Breach and the Rifts became demons because they were driven insane by the shock from the change.

I disagree that demons are a product of the Veil. The Veil might act as a buffer, but spirits can surely be turned from their purpose by anybody, regardless of the Veil's presence or not. I highly doubt that malevolent spirits didn't exist in the pre-Veil world.

You don't know what demons will do, demons are not mindless beings. The only sought to cross the veil to see and experience the waking world. They are ten times weaker in the waking world because they cannot shape reality like they can in the fade. With the veil gone they no longer need to possess anyone and will most likely fight among each other and vie for power. Solas uses the word "chaos" very well here. This can never match the threat of blight, I have a bridge to sell you if you think otherwise.

Proof?

Lack of veil has no relation with fire, at all.

That's a possibility, though Solas probably has a plan for spirits and demons since he considers them people. I think there's also an epilogue panel in Trespasser about spirit-Cole returning to the Fade talking about aiding with suffering in the Fade.

Well we'll just agree to disagree then, there's a lot said by Solas and Cole on the matter and the Veil definitely has a strong role with the distortion between real people and spirits and this distortion creates a lot of problems that result in demons.
