Wat? There is no maybe; white chocolate is what you eat when all that's left are smarties and circus peanuts. How dare u!
Dark chocolate reigns supreme in tastiness. But that's just my opinion.
Maybe.

Wait, that's actually a codex entry? Wow. Must have either missed it, or forgotten... somehow. Where was it?

It's found in the Vir Dirthara, the area where you fight the librarians.Wait, that's actually a codex entry? Wow. Must have either missed it, or forgotten... somehow. Where was it?
Oh, how I wish this would have become the final post in this thread.I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is your problem with my opinion. My opinion that maybe our decision later on about Solas... it may be a harder, more interesting decision than the decision we're faced with right now.
All I said was, according to these these things, they may be clues of something later on. Or they may not.
The fact is, we don't have all the facts. That's not head canon, that's just fact. Does that automatically mean that Solas is going to be up to something that turns out to be noble and good? Nope.
Does that mean you're not entitled to your own opinion? Nope.
Does that mean our decision later on about what Solas is up to, is maybe going to be a harder decision that it seems to be right now? Maybe.
What the heck is wrong with me saying maybe? Golly geee wiiiizzzzzzz.
Are you on an anti-maybe committee? Does the word maybe dredge up personal tragedy? Are you King Maybe and must kill all the pretender maybe's that are threatening your Maybe Throne?
It's okay if we're in disagreement. The world will continue to spin around the sun. It will still spin on its axis. Seasons will pass. Flowers will bloom. Game of Thrones will continue with its awesome. Cool Dragon Age games will be made. Mysteries will be solved. White chocolate will continue to be tastier than regular chocolate.
Go look up head canon. Canon is facts. I said certain things may be clues. Sandal's prophecy isn't head canon. Nor is Flemeth's prophecy with Hawke. At the end of Trespasser, Solas doesn't want to kill lots of people. He feels he has to kill lots of people. Restoration of the elves is definitely a motivating factor. But is it the only motivating factor? He won't tell us about everything that's involved. So, maybe it's not the only motivating factor. Solas has had to make hard decisions before that involved saving the world. That's possibly a clue.
*no maybe's were harmed in the making of this post. Head canon's felt left out, but were compensated with Tyrion Lannister action figures.
Sorry this is late, but what do you mean exactly by Mythal's human appearance? Statues? Flemeth? Weird water-well-spirit-thing?
The "weird water-well-spirit-thing" that you see who comes to "life" to defend the eluvian while Inquisitor and co. are running through.
I'm pretty sure that this was acknowledged to be a mistake at some point, like PW about "missing" Solas dialogue in the "should I drink?" scene, but I'm having a difficult time locating a source for that. >.< (I wouldn't mind a source link for the Solas thing, either, as I neglected to save it previously.)
[edit]
OK I found it. It's not really a "mistake," so much as something that wasn't meant to be seen as it was (that is, that she is human instead elf).
Thanks to Avejajed in this thread for pointing out where to search.
@GeekRemix In other words it was meant to be a generic silhouette. No significance to the ears.
So they essentially used a human model as a "generic silhouette." Seems an odd choice for this particular scene, but there ya go.
[edit2]
I found the Solas thing as well.
@princebec Yeah. My goof. Nothing more of substance, though. No key plot detail was missing, just flavor.
In the end, my overall point was that I think that some people can get a bit carried away looking for hints in things when it might be just a mistake, or simply something that should be taken at face value. It's one thing when wild speculation is clearly marked out as being for fun and entertainment purposes, but I have seen people attempt to use those same "clues" to validate whatever argument they're trying to make. I mean this in a general sense, not directed at anyone in this thread (I have one example related to Dorian that I always found odd).

Speaking of the image of Mythal at the Well of Sorrows - have you guys discussed the "baldness" of the other elves. Solas' baldness has been discussed, but everywhere in DAI, all of the mosaics and frescoes, depict bald elves.
Were the ancient elves all bald, including the Mythal?
I am sure you all have discussed this before, but I am not sure what the general consensus is about it. It would be strange if the Evanuris did return and they were all bald. Does that make hair in general unique for modern elves?
Sorry to go a bit off subject. I am just curious.

).

I think Bioware is just generally crappy at hair (an element that bothers me less than others) and they saved resources with the ancient elves by making them pretty much sorta-Solas-models.
Trying to read too much into that may be like saying that everyone in Thedas has the same... what... ten hairstyles? Man... that stylist gets around.

We don't know what Mythal really looked like. All of the mosaic tiles seem to depict the elven pantheon as looking bald, but again, those are highly stylized and I don't think can be said to accurately represent any of those persons. The perfect comparison would be with the hieroglyphics on the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs; none of them actually looked like that.
They could have shown them as lacking hair to emphasize their head shape and ears, and also make the seem more godlike. Solas himself has a rather different head shape.

LOL they're so crappy at hair they don't even want to artistically represent it as tiles in a mosaic?! ![]()

I don't really think "unique" is the right word - we do see elves with hair on Solas's ancient fresco in his sanctuary after all. The baldness might have something to do with spending long times in uthenera, perhaps to prevent this from happenning after a thousands-year-old nap ![]()

They're all bald in the fresco's? For reals?

They appear that way to me... If you go to the DAwiki entry for the elven pantheon and click on the entries for each one, you will see a pretty decent image of each of their mosaic portraits. Fen'Harel is the only one not personally represented, being depicted as a wolf.

The one for Sylaise is my favorite. I just love all of the leaves.
Is this a pictures from Solas with hair.
I can only imagine him waking up from uthenera in a scenario where nothing impeded the hair growth - a singular arm waving desperately from a tomb full of hair ![]()
^^
Sylaise totes has hair.
Solas only painted elves other than himself in one fresco, which was the one in the back of his temple that has him taking the elves vallaslin.
The freed elves on the right seem to have hair.
White chocolate =/= Milk chocolate >> Dark chocolate. Just saying.
What are chu saying? Dark Chocolate is better then Milk Chocolate?
I think those are leaves, not hair. But that's just me.

The baldness is Solas's iconic look, so I doubt they'll change it. BUT it would be interesting if that state made his hair fall out and it's just taking his body a long time to readjust. Imagine if he finally became adjusted by the next game and did have hair. Of course, the problem with that idea is the two year gap before Trespasser. If he hadn't adjusted by that time, I'd say his hair is just gone.
Or, you know, he's using one of these every morning...
^^

Yeah, I kinda lean in that direction, especially with the lines draping down from the back of the head and around the neck.
The freed elves on the right seem to have hair.
You're right - I never noticed those two before - funnily enough.
Thanks all of you for clearing that up for me.
