Well if you ask her why she has so much anger against the shadow broker she pretty much breaks down and tells you everything. Saying how she had to get Shepard's body back from the shadow broker before he turned it over to the collectors.
The reason she turned the body over to Cerberus according to her is she couldn't let Shepard go. So she's basically been fighting not only with the shadow broker but herself for turning Shepard over to Cerberus. She knows what kind of organization it really is and that they were gonna use Shepard for their own purposes which really got to her. She was reluctant to give this information because she thought Shepard would hate her for making such a decision.
I missed this small dialogue option my first time through but if you catch it, it still shows Liara cares for Shepard a lot. She's not going after the broker just for her friend but also for Shepard.
Anyone get anything beyond this? I've been reading forums all night- trying to find SOMETHING for the rabid Liara fan in me to cling to . I've seen people report that with a high enough paragon rating you can open dialogue options regarding your relationship - which seems plausable enough- However , i went to ilium initially with 2 bars of paragon to 1/2 a bar renegade, and w/ no romance options with anyone else started, and was not given ANY dialogue regarding the status of their relationship.
I've seen reports that if your rating is high enough Liara tells you that she still loves you and that when the goals you both set out to acomplish are over, you will be together again-
I went back about 3 hours of game play to try to grind my paragon rating up to a high enough lvl to see these dialogue options, and have gotten no where. 4 bars of Paragon rating w/ still about 1/2 a bar Renegade and these options still do not open. Can anyone confirm that they've seen this dialogue? and shed some light on what the did to get it? Were you full paragon 60's in the ME1 save file? Did you ignore Kelly completley?
any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I heard similar things. So prior to going to Ilium I modified my ini file to give myself 100% Paragon and 0% Renegade. There was no new options concerning "meeting again when its all over". I'm gonna talk to her again right before I have to hit the Omega 4 relay to see if there are any changes. If not then I suspect it was just people messing with the Liara fans.

I went in with a half full paragon bar and got no special options for dialogue with her. she told me about her male freind and how she was doing what she was doing for him... it made me think that perhaps she had moved on to someone else.

Then she meets someone else, who was probably charming, helped her out, and well some sparks probably flew in her vulnerable state. Then bam! The shadow broker takes it away.
Also, Liara was young in ME2 mentally and physically, she was probably equivalent of a human 20 something, having isolated herself from the world in study. In ME2 the 2 years were a harsh lesson.
Lastly, ME2 is a story about a suicide mission, can't really start anything again when there seems like no hope for the future. Perhaps it was more a missed opportunity for Bioware for some heart wrenching dialog that's the problem. Things will get interesting in ME3 though.
That said, for you Liara lovers,

Wait... I thought someone said earlier that in the book or comic... she knows that Cerberus is bringing you back to life and that she regrets handing your body over to them because she knows what they are going to do.
aslo... based on conversations with her in the first game... I find it hard to believe that after explaining Asari mating rituals to Shepard, that she would be over him, meet someone new and get on with her life in just two years. Not with the way she described it as a spiritual thing and so forth. But that is just me...
I'm playing through with Miranda right now, but will probably make a saved game where I stay true to her next. I just thought it was lacking in explanation the reaosns she was acting as she was even after shepard helped her. We're talking about shepard here... the man who saved the universe and who most of the galaxy is scared to death of. Why would she not feel safe with him??? Just random thinking here... lol

I read this too, but i don´t know what to do, that Liara tells you that she still loves you
There should be an option to break up the relationship too, but we never talked about our relationship

She still loves you, but.. you'll probably get back with her in ME3, if you cheat on her, her picture will be slammed down in your captains cabin. If you cheat on her, it creates conflict with Liara in ME3. She's on a mission that is actually helping you against the reapers.
Is that true...about the picture...I wondered if anything would happen with the pic if you cheated....I have no intention of cheating so I wasn't aware.
Geez.... this almost makes me wanna cheat with Jacob... but I didn't activate the romance at the start of the game...
Yeah, felt like that was the intent...to get you mad enough with your LI to cheat.

I really hope loyalty does pay off in 3, as i will reserve my judgment until then, but it does indeed make you feel exceptionally isolated- i'm sure that is to entice you to cheat as people have said- I wonder if Kelly Chambers counts as 'cheating' or if she is like the consort in ME1? anyone test this?

Apparently, Liari had to put herself deeply in debt to the Shadow Broker just to pay for the information she needed to recover your body. The Collectors wanted your body for some reason and had hired the Shadow Broker to find it. Liari and Cerberus outbid them.
I wouldn't be surprised if Liari sees your dead body at some point in the comics. Seeing your boyfriend when he was dead can be such a turnoff. Having to sell your soul to pay for his funeral can strains a relationship too.

^This.
I honestly, can't see Bioware NOT bringing back Liara as a part member in ME3. A) she's the only party member left from either game that hasn't had the opportunity to die and

I wish I hadn't skipped over the other female character's LI starting cut scene before doing her missions.
People change, but Liara changed for the worst, as cheesy as it was. I'm sure "after her work is done" it will be alright, but encounters like that stick with me, if she could act like that and speak like that, even if it was a play, it still made me uncomfortable, not wanting to have much to do with her. That's coming from someone who gives people chances to redeem themselves, albeit too much (That Eclipse agent in another quest caught me being naive.)

To me, it felt like a slap in the face, I understand what she went through, saving Shepard and how she has gotten involved with the wrong crowd, that she still loves me. But she changed, I don't care if it was a cover she didn't seem like she was acting. It was a case of the end not justifying the means, I would have preferred that she moved on, even though her actions were allegedly crucial to the plot (According to the comic)

Sure it explains the hell she went through to find you, that's admirable, but like I said, the means do not justify the ends for me, business wise she's lost it, and, well, unless Bioware gets stupid with writing the plot of ME3, this different side will have rubbed off on her, she's been played off as very malleable, meaning if Liara ends up being normal in the final chapter, it will kill if for me too. Sounds hypocritical right? It would just feel unnatural and awkward to have a sudden change.

Grrrr.....half of my excitment was the love scene.....
but if it'll payoff in ME3.... another2/3 years!!!
But.... what if I want.... other options? Garrus? Jacob?
How can I explore new options w/o the whole cheating thing??
Somewhere in the next 2/3 years I'm sure you can find time to play through with cheating and without. Then when ME3 comes along you'll be all set to import one Shepard that hasn't cheated and continue on and another that has and see what happens.

If there is a payoff in ME3, maybe; To be completely honest, her character in the first game had little depth, with ME2, however, they tried to make her have this rich subplot through the comics but, the plot itself isn't very interesting.

Can you tell me a bit about what you did to gain that dialogue? I've played that scene over and over and i cant get it to pop up. WHat was your paragon/renegade rating? Are you male shep/ or female shep?

PixieDevil are you talking about the dialogue that I described? If so its after the 2nd hack quest. The option pops up to investigate with one option being "Liara's Needs" and the other being "Anger toward the Shadow Broker". You have to pick the SB option to get the dialogue. If you pick Liara's needs it ends the conversation and you can never ask.
There has not been any "Let's meet again when this is all over" dialogue though so I'm not sure if it exists.

blah blah shadow broker - WHos that/ is he after you/why did you want this/are you on his side-
then i get - Come w/ me- what happened /good luck/you're obsessed
I choose come w/ me, i get the standard " i cant." which opens no options, What happened only tells me about her friend w/ nothing regarding her looking for Sheps body. Then just Good luck w/ your plan and You're obsessed.
I then get "How are you" and then the samara , and thane options , with "goodbye". Seems im missing something.
no "Anger towards the shadow broker "or "Liaras needs" im 4 1/2 bars paragon w/ 1/2 bar renegade, maybe im not paragon enough to open the dialogue options. Are they the standard options or are they blue/red?

After selecting the correct option go see her again. You'll get "How was the fight?" and "What happens now?". You can pick either, after that you are given the investigate option to ask about the shadow broker.
If you select "Liara's needs" or "Don't give into temptation" the conversation ends with no chance to ask about the SB.
