Ok -we have to face it - a lot of the animosity some players have when joining multiplayer (in addtion to other things) are that that they don't like to be harassed or mobbed by other players through chats, mic's, online forum comments, driveby shootings and the like:

See these interesting facts released today:
Q1aPzKb.jpg
http://www.nature.co...haviour-1.19647

I, myself have been guilty of this behaviour a few times and transgressors largely remain anonymous and mostly benefit from this unchecked explosions.

Would you, as a pure SP player be more willing venture into unknown waters like the multiplayer contra social hellhole, if you knew that the major trolls (only 1% are consistently poison- in study) were kept on a (shorter) leash, also in game from time to time? Sort of a ai mp for rogue soldiers...

Where will this fail?

The problem is that if people are rude or harass on a regular basis they don't care at all that it is negatively affecting their team.  Also I honestly think the BioWare mp model has been far better than other mp models in promoting coop play,  I played both ME3 mp and DAI mp a LOT and there really were very  few real negative moments as far as players on my team were concerned.

Interesting -What was done different then?
Wasn't it simply that the team group mean of ME is ca. 34 (iirc in 2012)Yep the consistent trolls are only 1% (from study), so its everyday guys and gals causing it.

For a huge launch this may sum together in many mini trolls (mp is so old now the proper trolls left out of boredom).
Imagine a future scenario with 150k players, where some 15 games after each other you have rude packs- your day will also be ruined.
Hence lightweight form of restraint is maybe just to serve a small reminder of humane boundaries.

Maybe The idea would include a a) 3rd person(mediator) that intervenes on his own between b ) mobber /harasser and c) mobbed. a) gets e-voted inGame (teamplayer reputation) for acting as intermediary. It is not transparent to the mediator where the + vote came from (four players). The mobber/ harasser is not impacted himself (to maintain wide player base/ bad hairdo day and also not immediately of the mediator). To avoid misuse only singular evote can be given to one person. eDemocracy ;)

One factor is a team vs a computer based opponent has a very different feel than a team of players vs another team of players.  In my own experience this affects my game behavior.  For example I get more ticked off with team mates in a game like world of tanks where it is humans vs humans than a game of humans vs computer ai.  I don't bad mouth or troll team mates as I don't mic up very often but I do get more ticked if I feel a team mate has let me down against a human opponent.

Also the 'troll' aspect is far far larger from enemy humans than computer ai.  Computer ai does not send you nasty messages and tbag you if they out you down.

Like Beerfish said, Co-op gameplay has a huge difference in general attitude from regular pvp gameplay. You aren't fighting each other, you're fighting together. From my experience in ME3 mp, people bad mouthing each other has been really rare and the 1% consistent trolls must be some real douche bags! Pvp though is a whole another level, and bad mouthing and trolling are part of the game. Think of it as a sort of mental warfare in a digital era.

That being said I wouldn't wanna be moderated in either version of the game in any way, hell no! Besides what I feel is an unrealistic and unnecessary waste of manpower, I don't want another hall monitor in my game.

All in all, while some general tips about the benefits of not being a jerk are nice, there isn't much else that needs to be done. It's just the nature of the games. Think of it this way, it's kinda like boxing and golf. People getting mad in golf is rare but it is to be expected in the latter because that's just what the game is about.

Edit: Oh I forgot to mention the limits being that as long as it stays within the game and doesn't lead to any actual harm it's fine. You might've heard about people getting DDOS-ed  or swatted and getting threats in real life. Now that's just wrong and fucked up!
