Well that didn't take long.

It got me a warning point and removal of the post. Apparently that's considered profanity. I guess the other 99% of the threads on here should be removed as well.
Hey you're human.*phew
Glad to see I wasn't the only one with pervy thoughts when I saw the title lol XD

@OP:
You might've gotten more adequate responses had you asked for "character roles" or "character archetypes". Just from reading the thread title, I knew (1) what you probably wanted to ask, and (2) where this thread would go instead.
As for those character roles, no mentor please. Anderson as a forced father-figure was cringe-worthy in ME3. Also, I'd rather like a different dynamic overall than the ME formula of a group of badasses zipping over the galaxy in their cool starship.
BTW, talking about warning points: don't these things expire? I've been stuck with one for 8 months now.

Maybe you're just stuck with them until you collect enough, then you get a free ban. Collect enough bans for a permanent one.
Btw, how did you get one? I find it hard to imagine you saying something that would get you one. Just curious.
I have failed D: This was my first thought too, not the pervy ones. I apologize to everyone, as compensation I will offer the idea of zero g sex.
I bet the mocap job offers might be quite popular. Is there first hand experience from ISS crews?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no. Mocap actors can't touch each others. Sensors signals will interfere with each other. A producing company we might work with had two boxers shadow fight for mocap tests for a movie. the reels were interesting, but since it's only shadow boxing you need real animators afterwards to give their punches any weight. The legwork was great though.
Imagine the horror it would be with a sex scene, the two actors simulating and trying to coordinate one meter apart from each other... And mocap combinaisons, there are few garnments less arousing than that...
(groans) Now I'm imagining spunk floating everywhere... yuk
But they could maybe use dolls then? That should eliminate signal interference.

Used the f-word. They took offense from my habit of circumventing the auto-censor.

The auto-censor should probably be updated, since I've seen the f word used many times on the boards without being censored. You just have to add "ed" to the end of the word and it's not censored.

What's the point? Unless you want to give off the impression they are doing it with a corpse? No, it's actually simpler and cheaper to flatly animate it. It's not as if it's hard to animate, provided the rigging and mesh are intended for this. The rightness of the animation is only conditioned by the time given to the animator to complete the scene. Time is money however and sex scenes aren't exactly the focus in most games, not that I'm exactly happy with most acting and direction in most games.
I always thought animating was a lot of effort. I'm not really the creative type, so I have difficulty in imagining someone atrificially creating animations in an unfamiliar environment (zero-g).

It is always a lot of work, but zero-g simplify some things, you don't need to simulate weight for exemple. The only difficulty here would be the points of contact between the two characters (not having grips that slide or interpenetring mesh <- in the not intended way that is...), and face-acting, which is largely dependant of the rig and the animator's talent. Still less expensive than renting a whole plane, equiping it for mocap and have two actors simulating the deeds separately to then have animators trying to make the bits and rythm connect ![]()
I actually was thinking about idle animations when entering this topic. Not even kidding. BioWare reuses so many old assets it's unreal.

You mean they don't have real actors for the face acting? I can barely believe how they do it without having a sample to copy from. Maybe they have a database of facial expressions?

I don't know the workflow at BW, but they certainly have, at the very least, video references of the various expressions their voice actors can make. References are good, we need them. Maybe not for simple every day moves, but when we have an especially complex animation, a tango for exemple, and know nothing about it, then yes, we need references (I do wonder what led to the Shepard dance...).
Again, sex scenes aren't the most challenging, when it comes to pure animation, almost everybody who's old enough has had sex. An animator can draw from their own experience, some things won't change even in zero-g, the two characters just need to have a good grip on one another
. How they happen, how realist they are and how much of it we see is the director's decision, otherwise I doubt Geralt would go for a ride with Yennefer on a stuffed unicorn, not that we see much of it since it's more implied than anything...

Yeah, in retrospect I should have done that, but hey its been a fun thread at least. I don't recall thinking that about Anderson when I played but it probably has been 3 years since I played ME3. What kind of dynamic though? Having your own ship seems necessary since without that you and your allies might be too tethered to the ARK.

Yeah, I would like to see more feminine animations for girl characters, since I always do one playthrough as one.

Maybe the mods thought you wanted "it" removed from the game. As opposed to included. I'd probably consider that profane as well.
