It is a pretty well know fact (within the gaming publisher management people) that most gamers do not finish these huge scale RPGs and that advertising that you have a huge game is simply a marketing technique to sell as many copies as possible. What I fear is that EA is going to push for this whole game, Mass Effect: Andromeda, to simply be a marketing tactic to get as many people to buy this game as possible. I do not believe that the Bioware Dev team just wants to make a game for marketing strategy alone. That said, all we have really heard about this game is that it is going to be a big, meaning size of in game space game, focusing on the story of humans in a far away galaxy. It is my fear that this game's primary focus is going to be on the size of this game rather than anything that is actually contained in the space of the game. What is told about this game from a marketing perspective tells a lot about what the publisher thinks will sell the game the best. I should mention that I am not primarily concerned that this game will have no good content in it, but I do fear that exploration and vastness, as opposed to emotional appeal and richness will be the dominant function that this game has to offer.

Not exactly. I think it will be much worse.

That is my fear as well, that it will be a copy of Inquisition. With basically humans only and less of the other species and not much focus on the story but with mostly focus on exploration and empty dull side missions. I really hope that is not the case.

The reason why all we've heard is about how large in scale it is, is probably because BioWare largely refuses to talk about the game at all.

There's a lot of reasons they could be doing that.

There's a lot of reasons they could be doing that.

Similarly DA:I was marketed like "whatever" and Mass Effect 3 was marketed by "All Out War, save Earth!" and at least the game had much more in store than just that.

So in that sense I'm not worried ME:A will surprise me.

Bioware is good at keeping surprises hidden before they release a game.

In a word?

Cerberus.

Mass Effect 5: "Cerberus was secretly responsible for the big-bang!"

The irony of your position is that you are afraid the game is going to be big because of marketing but you can't market the size of the game as a positive unless the market aka consumers view this as a positive.  If the market wants large games it doesn't mater if they finish the game or not. The second irony is that people don't really know WTF they are talking about in general so they just throw blame around. They know that marketing is bad because they have heard of bad marketing, yet marketing isn't bad in and of itself. It is bad when marketing presents a false image of a game directly. I am not talking about idiots that ride the hype train to disappointment, but rather when a company deliberately markets a game in a manner that if false like Aliens: Colonial Marines. Assuming that ME:A is honestly a big game and it is marketed as a big game, what is wrong with that? Isn't that the kind of thing we WANT from marketing? A honest representation of the features of a game?

We have no reason to assume that ME:A is a bad game. So stop the complaints, the QQing the fear-mongering about the game before we know anything about it. Conversely we have no reason to assume ME:A is a great game either, but I am seeing very little in terms of people riding the hype train yet.

To be fair, BioWare are really damned if they do and damned if they don't when it comes to what they do and do not show prior to release. If they show a lot of stuff and some of that stuff ends up getting cut, people complain. If they don't show much so they are sure that what they do show actually make it into the finished game, poeple complain. I'm sure we'll hear more about the game as we edge closer and closer to its release. But I really don't understand this whole "we haven't heard anything about the game so it's probably bad" thing. It seems a tad premature.

I'm still looking for options on Hanar calamares sauce options. I'm still stuck with lemon and olive oil as baseline.

Sharing this with me will take away your fears and provide for a more healthy and content life style.

If I may - You can add a touch of kurbiskernöl (pumpkin seed oil) or a bit of basilicum to round it off - it always complements seafood...

Well, from the start, Bio mentioned that the game's focus is exploration. I guess you don't buy "Experience the freedom to traverse and explore a planet-dense but seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery. Play as the leader of a squad of military-trained explorers in an intense third-person shooter, with deep progression and customization systems..." this marketing snake oil sales pitch?

I have no fear for this game.

I have seen nothing of this game. Just CGI trailers, no gameplay. Therefore, I can't really judge it.

I am one of the apparent few of Bioware's fans that loved Inquisition and played over 300 hours of it, Most people seem to hate the fetch quests, but I didn't mind them.

I just want the game, and I'll enjoy it. There have been VERY few games that I've absolutely hated.

I love Mass Effect and all of it's wonderful-ness, including it's flaws.

Valid Reasons to Worry:

- Armageddon starts the day before the game's release date.

- The Star Brat is in your dreams every time you sleep.

- Bioware is purchased by MS, Google, or 343 Industries.

- Mel Blanc's cartoon voice is used to voice over every character. See here.

- The Protagonist is Sesame Street's Miss Piggy.

- SP mode requires a monthly fee.

- Conrad Verner is on board. So are Bel Anoleis and Ethan Jeong. And they are in charge.

- There is one armor color: Pea Green.

- The game is delayed until Feb., 2018.

- An EMP destroys our equipment the same week.

- The day the game is released, your neighborhood is without any electrical power for a month.

Other than these, "we have no worries."

Exactly, if BioWare was telling us about the game we would have essays around here talking about how horrible they are making the game or that they should be not posting anything about the game because they are ruining it.  We have seen both on the BioWare forums in the past, with Mass Effect 2 people lost their minds because they released the opening Cinematic and it ruined the game.  Then we have the infamous GameCon video for Dragon Age: Inquisition where people go so upset because they had a video with features that didn't make it into the final game.

What about tamarind paste? I'm happy to experiment with unusual stuff. It'd put some colour and new texture to the experience.

Indeed I'm not worried about MEA either I'v eenjoyed all 3 ME games they've released and the Dragon Age games. So chances of me needing to be worried I'd say are pretty remote
