More influence from player background choice

Personally, I like choosing the colonist, sole survivor combo for my Vanguard. I'd like to see a return of a traumatic combination like this. It was interesting to me, especially because I'd always played my Shepard as an optimist.

This is a good idea plus I'd like to see it impact into the story as well like it did in ME1, it was only in small doses but still it was nice to see certain people react differently accordingly to which background I had chosen for my Shep. And if Bioware could make it even more interesting in MEA and make it so it impacts more, then that would be awesome.

I always wanted to hug shep's mom but they never let me so sad.

I hope they do that. Some people complain that in DA:O and DA:I the PC's background didn't amount to much, apart from some special dialogue options or specific reactions in some scenes. However, it's an incredibly high level of reactivity compared to ME2 and ME3.
The mails aren't enough. Bioware can do better than that.

ME3 From Ashes DLC did a little. Just a line you say when you touch down. But yeah, otherwise there was no reference to your history whatsoever.
I am all for this idea. I hate the idea of head canon. I don't like it one bit, and I don't think BioWare should rely on it so much. I want to actually witness it in my game.

I always wondered why we never meet or heard anything from Shepard's dad. Yeah, I support the idea of your background having more of a influence on your character with the way they act and certain dialogue. It would add even more choice to picking different backgrounds.

exactly. From our class to preservice history it should carry some weight about who and what you are. More impact on the people around you. Rpg's are evolving and bioware is good at what they do despite All the criticism.Starting with ME1 players were able to chose from a pre-service history and psychological background. We were offered 3 pre- service history and 3 psychological picks to choose from. Sole survivor, ruthless, war hero for psychological. Colonist, Earth born, and spacer for pre-service. If psychological and pre-service history return I'd like to see your choice have a greater impact on how your character may initially react to a situation, what the character would possibly say in different situations, and maybe even the tone. I'd like to see that background choice have more influence on the player's character. ME1 did this a bit offering a little insight with missions specifically for each background choice, but ME2 and 3 never even hinted on the fact. I think the background should help mold the player's character in a sense. So what do you guys think about backgrounds, should they make a return and play a bigger role in the development of the player's character? Also what types of backgrounds would you like to see in Andromeda?
